Finally, last week I did my first multi-day motorcycle road trip since starting riding about 4 years ago. It was a spectacular one – at least for southern Ontario. The first day was from Maple to Renfrew – almost 500 km. Second day was in the Renfrew, Calabogie, Barry’s Bay area – almost 600 km. Third day was back home via a more northerly route taking in Elephant Lake Road and the 507 – about 350 km.
The bike was flawless as expected. It was especially great to receive my gel seat the day before I took off. :D This was a huge improvement over the stock seat. In addition I have Dan Vesel’s sheepskin and LDComfort riding shorts which also added to the overall comfort level.
I highly recommend this particular trip. I followed the route described on this web site very closely. http://www.cmgonline.com/touring/Tours/PortPerryToRenfrew/index.html
The Calabogie roads were especially scenic and twisty and the roads around Foymont and Dacre were much like those of Vermont. I would say that the roads covered by this trip are about the best that Ontario has to offer. If you have never been out that way, do yourself a favour and check it out.
