OK all, hows this...

Finding campsites in WVa that are not already reserved this close to Labor Day weekend is tricky, so I followed up on an idea from one of my COG buddies;

There's a great little restaurant at Helvetia, which is missing from my original route. That's all changed - now it will be our base. There's a meadow and a creek behind the restaurant, and I have space reserved in the Meadow for 3 nights. How's that sound?

Camping is fairly primitive, nothing there but an outhouse and a creek - Eleanor says it's fine to bathe in the creek. Sounds OK to me! Don't need much more that that for a few days - good food, good roads, and a meadow by a creek - just a few steps from the aforementioned food. Oh, and a coupla beers...

I'm planning on being there Friday night, riding sat/sunday, home monday. Plenty of time for all sorts of devious routes.

I have a Saturday ride mapped out too - Saturday will be a shorter ride, around 250 miles, north of Helvetia. Sunday will be south to Fayetteville to check out the New River Gorge Bridge.

If anyone wants to meet for a day ride, be at the Seneca Rocks (The Porch Restaurant) around 11 am.

Weather's looking a bit grim - I won't be going tomorrow, but 99% sure of Saturday. Still planning to be at Seneca Rocks at 11am if anyone wants to meet there.

Elenor, proprietor of the Hutte in Helvetia, kindly called me to warn that they have 5-12" forcast for tomorrow, schools are cancelled, and she suggested that it might not be such a good idea to come up on the bikes.

She's probably right!
