Hi all, Just joined up as I'm Buying a Wee Strom ABS, Apparently there due in OZ at the end of the month, I'm from Forster NSW - in my 30's and have been riding on the road sence I was old enough to get my licence - Got bitten by the bug at a young age... This site has been very helpfull in my search for my next bike, the litttle V looks like the best compromise for the riding I want to get back to, All I have to do now is Sell my TRX 850

Looking forward to Chatting with you all

Welcome northern neighbour, some nice rides up your way. Haven't been to the Great Lakes for a long while so will have to make a point of getting up there and looking out for an ABS Wee.

G'day RomperStromper,
Had my wee for about 5 months, and love it.
Nice to see another Oz strommer.
The ABS would be nice :)

Hi RS ........ I just spoke to my dealer this morning. The dual plug is not for Australia, nor the ABS. I would be interested in both these mods, but from what I here from America, the dual plugs has no appreciable difference, and apparently you cant turn off the ABS ....... now thats a scarey thought. We will have to wait and see.

Hello and Welcome.

It does look like a very nice colour, is it a lighter shade than the K6 DL1K?

I might nearly have to trade my K6 in then I'd have a matching cage and bike

Gday all
It is good to hear about other Auzzie Strommers out there.
I've been riding road for last 19 years.
Love the dual purpose bikes. I've ridden a few road bikes over the years but I honestly reckon these things handle as good if not better on public twistie roads than most road bikes.
Do the Phillip Island thing every year for Moto Gp. You can check out our BLOG at

and leave a comment if ya like, say gday whatever

Gidday, I'm from Newman in the Northwest of WA. I have been off bikes for the past 13 years after my missus decided West Aussies can't drive (moved over from Victoria). Have finally grown some nads, put my foot down and come to a compromise with her, she gets a jet ski if I get a bike again!

After a coupld of weeks of online research (1200km to Perth, so I can't drop into a bike shop to check out the latest models) I have decided on the DL650.

I thought it would be a relatively simple affair but after reading through this site over the last couple of days I have found so many mods, accessories etc that one could argue are "necessary equipment" for someone like me who will be doing a bit of off road stuff.

Any suggestions on what bike protection is a must from the day I pick u the bike would be appreciated.

I am in the process of getting quotes from Perth dealers and seeing what sort of accessory discount I can get for the bike and riding gear.

Look forward to reading and learning more from you experienced wee strom owners.

Cheers

Brett

Did you get the ABS version ?????

When I spoke to SUZUKI Australia it was not coming downunder as they thought no one would want to pay $1,000 more for ABS ( like as if they really ask ) I think we are getting the leftovers .They did not even think we will be getting the new Bandit 1250s till middle next year ( no ABS).

No, non-abs version.

and they are right, I wouldn't pay the extra for abs.

See my post under "My new K7" for my delivery thread.

Well I would pay for ABS ( and make it switchable ) . The simple reason is our reflexes may be good and we may be able to brake as good as ABS but after 4 hours riding they are not as good .
