Heat management...

After a 2600+ mile ride through Vermont/New Hampshire/New York/Pennsylvania & back to Ohio in 85+ degree weather, the heat coming off the radiator cooks my legs!!! How about some ducting to cure this?

Heat??? We came from an ST1300 and an 04 FJR. One of the main reasons was the heat of the FJR. If we rode in the 80's or 90's, after 30 minutes, you would burn your hand if you touched the tank. Extremely hot. We just got done riding in high 90's temps and think these bikes are great for heat. I sure didn't notice any heat coming on to my legs. Did I miss something? I was riding with my Setup boots and jeans.

I've never had a heat problem with the 650. My old CX500 had a heat problem.

I rode airhead bmw's for many years. there was an aftermarket accessory that fit over the cylinder that made it into a marginally useful stove. At low altitudes you could actually boil small amounts of water on it. that's hot.

I've seen water boiling on the cylinders of my R90s in stock condition.

Yeah-I've heard about the FJR's heat problems. Sounds like Yamaha's addressed this with the newest model.
Riding with my boots right behind my BMW R65's cylinders (had it for 10 years) in Arizona's heat was... Interesting. Still love the Airheads!!!

I feel less heat on this bike than any bike I've ever owned. I've owned a BMW R100RS, K100LT and a Kawasaki Concours-talk about HEAT! This bike feels like it's air conditioned next to those bikes.

That is really strange....I notice very little heat coming from this engine. My Bandit 1200 put off allot of heat, but the Strom seems really good.

...Oh, but Stromette-it's just too tempting....85 degree heat indeed...

I bought my V-Stromasaurus Max in the begining of summer (in Phoenix). I don't have any heat issues at all. I agree with the Bandit guy-my Bandit threw some pretty good heat, and when hot the shifting got very stiff.

Jeeezzzz.... Ok-I'm a wimp... I do have to admit, that little bit of heat that comes out on my legs is ok on a cool morning. :lol:

No one who rides a motorcycle of any kind is a wimp :!:

Anyone who puts themselve out their with the cell-phone equipped soccer moms and dads and teens in thier Escalades sportin' 22 in. chromed 'cycle-crushing wheels is no wimp :shock:
