Austin to Amarillo

Anyone ridden from Austin to Amarillo? Just curious on the ride time and route I've picked. Mileage chart says it's 535 miles. No big deal. Thought I'd check on ride routes etc. I plan on taking 71 to 87 thru San Angelo. This will be day one of my Colorado trip. Taking 9 days to venture to Colorado and find cool air.

Any other recommendations on a route to Amarillo?

Here is a Dallas guy on TWT that rides up into the panhandle a lot to see family. I am not sure about route details but you might contact him on Two Wheeled Texans (http://www.twtex.com) and see what he recommends.
