Montana Ride Aug 7 to Aug 14 2004

The Destination: Montana Glacier State park coming from the West.

Meeting Place: Saturday Aug. 7 Burlington WA. State Crispy Creme

Trip Plan: Head along the Destinations Hwy. # 1 pick along Hwy. 20 through the Cascade Mnt. Range. Through Idaho into Montana across the Rocky Mnts. into Waterton State Park. Heading back West into BC Canada.

This is a camping trip. Any suggestions on good roads, camp spots, sites of interest or any thing else related would be appreciated. The plan going there is to stay close to the Canada US border and also on the way back.

I have estimated the mileage from Burlington WA to Waterton Park MT to be around 500 miles. I'am very flexible with the ride their. If people wanted to make the days of riding shorter, we could do the ride within 1 to 2 days. Then camp out at GlacierNational park for a couple of days.

I'm starting to do some research on this trip. Correction my destination is
Glacier National Park in Montana, Waterton Park is the same geological area, but its in Alberta.

Since I'm going to Alaska in mid July I have decided to push the Montana trip to the second week of August. Leave August 7,8 and go for only one week.

Thanks for the pics. I'm hoping to get down to the Going to the Sun highway around the end of August. I'll be coming from the east and north though, so can't do all those great western roads on the way to Montana. It's a pain living in the prairie flat lands with a motorcycle. At least the V-Strom does a nice job of eating up the miles to get to the mountains. I'm also going to be riding in southeast BC around the Kootenays in 10 days. Can't wait.
