Ok I admit it, I have been a lurker for quite some time. I figured since I didn't own a Strom, what's the sense of joining. I have had my eye on a 1000 since I first saw one back in 02. But unfortunately I don't buy anything new, so it took years for my wish to be granted.

Anyway I picked up an 03 yellow Strom last week with only 500 miles on it. It has the full factory bag setup as well as the center stand. So I'm a little a head of the game in the accessories department, but I'm sure there are lots of other things I will need. By the way, how can anyone buy a Strom in 03 and only put 500 miles on it in three years? I did 400 miles in my first week and it rained every day.

Anyway I really appreciate all the great information I have received here on the bike so far. Hopefully I will meet a few of you in the future if the wife allows me out of the house. By the way, youth sports was thought up by the moms so dad couldn't get out for a ride.

Yes I have to say the bags were a nice bonus to the package. I'm not sure if I would have sprang for them right away had they not come with the bike.

The funny thing is that I figured I would just take the side bags off and only use them for long trips. That would leave me only running the trunk bag, but after riding the bike for a while I think I will just leave all the bags right there on the bike. If anything the side bags add more visibility to the bike. My first tank of gas I got 43 mpg, so they must not hurt the aerodynamics too much.

i agree with the visibility. I most likely will go with the aerostich drybags in the hi-viz yellow, unfortunately i think getting hard bags for my urban guerilla commute would only end up in heartache/scratches/$ spent on repairs. ride safe!
