Three goals for this weekend

1) Ride AZ 191 from the I-10 to the 1-40. WoW, this road is everything they said it would be & everything I had hoped for. Great sights, awesome corners, danger, fresh snow on the sides of the road as well as in the trees and NO TRAFFIC. It’s a road that just keeps on giving. Just before starting out on this magic thread I stopped at a view site just outside of Clifton, to look at one hell of a large scale mine operation & happened upon 3 riders from COLORADO who told me how lucky I am to live so close to such a great bike road…. I could not help but think to my self, yeah, but what about all the roads you live by in Colorado? But, a few miles later, I knew what they meant.

2) Do a 1k-day on the V-Strom, before the Twist n Shout rally; just to make sure we’re going to get along. (We’re good, stock seat & all).

3) Complete the documentation for an IBA AZ SSSS1K (Same State Saddle Sore 1000) Simple route, slab it to Wilcox, Az, ride the 191 north to the I-40, head west to Flagstaff, down the 17 & cut off to Prescott & down the back side, just to finish off the day with a few more twisties before heading back to Yuma.

Mission Completed.

Yeah, but did you get the lawn mowed? :D

Sounds like a great weekend. Just out of curiosity, how long did the SSSS1k take?

Congrats on the ride!! I'm headed for the Devil's Highway (old 666, now 191) over Memorial Day wkend (annual group trip) and can't wait.

BTW, re the SSSS1k--- I did this in early Feb and got the verification packet back along w/a note stating the AZ specific SSSS1k pins wefre not yet available and probably wouldn't be until summer. If you get your packet and have the AZ pin could you let me know?

I will let you know, I thought I saw a picture of the AZ pin, but can't remember where.

I will be riding that 191 again next weekend, during the Twist n Shout rally. Since Banfielder based the rally out of Springervill I'm guessing that we will be covering the 191 somewhere during the rally.

Two weeks ago I road down from Springervill to Clifton & then into New Mexico & back up into Arizona's forests & mountain twisties for an 1,100 mile 24hr ride. Not sure how to post pictures, but here is a link to my lame (free) MSN Space. http://spaces.msn.com/members/azdesertrider/

Most of the pictures are of the rally riders, but there are a couple of the
Strom on the 191. Stroms made a good showing in the twist n Shout rally... All three that entered, finished.
