Installed my SW-Motech centerstand today, works great. This is what I learned;
1) Read these threads and pay attention! I could have used a 12 Inch 6mm Allen key for the right side for sure, Ball Head. The right side is very tight and getting my fingers in there to tighten the allen head bolt was a treat.
2) If you end up with spare parts...YOU'RE WRONG! When putting the right side together, i took some advice and used a bungy to hold the stand up out of the way, that worked. The problem was, with the bungy on the left side of the bike pulled over the top of the seat to the right side, this created pull to the left. Stand slid left and the two spacers wouldn't fit. :var_31: So I swore a bit ,looked at the nice pictures and couldn't quite tell. Figured, standard stand fits differant bikes, narrower mount...WRONG!
3) tried the stand, worked yahoo! Went to put the side stand down and found why i had spare parts. It wouldn't, the stand had slid left and was blocking the side stand. Took the right side apart. :var_31: Put the spacers in, swore some more putting it back together.
4) the springs! Holy Smoke, I must not have been using a long enough screw driver, tried it easily two dozen times before i got it. Had to take it off, again i swore some more.:var_31: I used the equivalant to boot lace to remove it using the rear wheel method in reverse, it worked. Replaced the springs using the rear wheel method, took some jim-jukering, but got it on. Swore some more. :var_31:
Through out, i applied blue thread locker to the threads each time I installed them. Biggest thing I learned, IKEA instructions suck! :var_31: Read the threads, read them again, and look at the pictures in the threads if there are any.
I wasn't going to give up because now my wife was home as i was correcting my spare parts issue and I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of saying, "do you know what you are doing?"
