May is full of out of state riding so it looks like June is on tap for the next
M&G. Somebody want to step up? Everybody can post which weekends are the best for them, who wants to ride and what area they want to ride.
PS: there is always a queen waterbed for the southern or nothern vistors that need a lay over, the charge is quite fair, a cold beer and good conversation.
I myself is heading up to the Gap during June but that won't stop me from riding with you guys, hopefully.
Again we need to address the T-Shirt questions.
Check out T-shirt on my site below, it is "Motorcycle, Cars and Boats"
Very nice Charlie!!

Hi bro, glad to have you aboard.
We try to do these once a month to once every other month.
But they are always posted weeks before. We try to do most in the Central part of the state so more riders can attend.
Some riders trailered down just to do the 100 mike ride and have a beer with us and trailer back the next day.
Just where in the Panhandle are you located?
I might be up your way around the 19 of May for a softball tournament, no bike but I can still drink a beer.
Hope you can make it down for a ride soon.

Charlie, you did a great job with the t-shirt design :!:
So, how do we get one?
Cpope
05-11-2006, 04:55 PM
Really cool shirt, but Lou Whitney did all the design. If we could get about 24 sold we could get a reasonable cost on the shirt.
We just need to how many to order, what color of shirt, long or short sleeve that everyubody wants before we do anything.

Unless they are incredibly expensive, I could go for 2 short sleeve 2XLs
Black is beautiful baby!
I'll do a couple XLs and a kiddie size, Charlie. Tell me where to send the coin.

I will have some prices next week, Do we want Silver, white, black or another color? Long or short sleeve?
Give me some feed back.
Charlie
Hey guys!!! Who's hosting the June ride? I'd imagine I could twist Mike's arm and we could do something in the west/central part of the state again.
I have obligations later in June so the earlier the better.

Looks like it has been a slow month on the "Florida Troopers" board, Hope all is well with everybody.
Softball has taken lots of my time lately but the good news we have played well with 2 tournaments wins and a couple of seconds. Never the less I miss our rides.
I play this weekend and the last weekend on this month in Marietta GA, so the week before Marietta GA I going to spend that week in the Smokys, kinda killing two joys with one trip.
Anybody up for a midweek ride just hollar, maybe we could do something June 17th, maybe around Micanopy Fl, just south of Gainsville Fl on US301, great roads heading south to Ocala and then to "Gators On the River" (just off Hwy 42) for lunch. Start at 11am and finishing around 3pm. OR finish at my house for drinks and burgers and a swim.
Any interest just post and we can see if we can get 4 or 5 bikes.
JUst a though, any other ideas?
Charlie
I'm OK with that, Charlie. The earlier the better. Beating the heat and the rain is never a bad thing.

Man, all my fault. Wife said she told me that my daughter was getting married on the 17th. I just don't remember.
I don't see where it is a big thing, after all she is 33 and done this 3 times before. You would think she knows how it is done and doesn't need daddy around. But to keep love from the wife in my life, I must slide out of the ride.
Maybe a later date in July.
Charlie
The father of the bride...is that the fella that pays for the party? :D

See y'all in July.

How correct you are, altho I only had to pay for number 1 and maybe part of number 4, if she can't get it right this time I might have to sell my Vstrom and that my friend would really upset me. :( Maybe we could take up a collection? :)

Maybe we should postpone the ride until the next weekend, the 24th, than both Charlie and I could have some two wheel fun with all of our Strom buddies. What do you guys think?
3rd time Charlie??? Yeah, I'd say by now she has the routine down pat. Just did that with my daughter last year, number 1 for her and I'm really hoping the only 1. Good luck and have fun with it.

The wedding went great, Anne and I joined then for their honeymoon, 5 days in Helen GA. Really we were there to babysit, which was no problem. At least we got about 400 miles in the north GA mounatins. Always great riding. Check out a few pictures from Helen. Got 15 miles up and down a gravel road that took almost 3 hours. That was really tough on the Strom with 2 up, or maybe it was just tough on me.
for the 6th Meet & Greet
so far: 2 or 3 more and we can make a go of this. Starts and finishes before the rain. If it rains on the ride, I'll buy the beer, :D

Looks like the softball team I play on now will be playing in the NSA Nationals. After we won the SPA District Championship in Marietta a few weeks ago we are moving into the top dogs. I think it is great to play the best there is. Only thing it is the weekend of the 21, 22 and 23 of July.
There is never enough time, even being retired I feel we need at least 2 more weekends a month so my friends can come out to play.
I will have to past on the July 22 Meet and Greet ride. I hope somebody will pick it up and get the ride in.
Lets see, this weekend, Altamonte Springs FL, then Florance SC, then Rock Hill SC. Off Aug 5th, then Plano TX, (but I am towing the V out to Texas to ride with a long time friend who lives in College Station, a week in Hill Country) anybody want to go? Back home with a ASSA in VA.
Have fun guys and ride safe.
Have fun, Charlie! Don't take any walks in that Slo-pitch stuff. That's just wrong  :D See you in August.
Maybe we should re-group till then. I'm always up for a ride that starts within 100 miles of Tampa between now and then.

Okay, how about this in lieu of an official group ride? I'm going for a ride on July 22. Anyone who wants to join me is welcome, I'll be riding whether anyone else is or not. In fact, a small group is probably better. I wouldn't be comfortable leading more than a few bikes anyway. I have two possible routes in mind.
The first is to meet in Leesburg in the morning, ride north towards Ocala and stop for lunch, then head back to Umatilla. Probably looking at a ride in the 90-mile range with a number of good sweepers.
The second is to meet in Clermont and generally follow the bike course for the Great Floridian ironman-distance triathlon. It's a 56-mile loop (on which the cyclists do two laps) through rural roads to the north of Clermont. This is a straighter route than the first, but with some nice elevation changes. You can see a map of this route here: http://sommersports.com/events/greatfloridian/maps.asp (Note: the only difference between laps 1 and 2 is the direction the bikes head around Lake Minneola.)
Anyone with me?
I'll go Jet. Given a vote, I'd say the Leesburg trip. I ride bicycles a lot and know those Clermont hills pretty well.
I hate those damned hills :D

Cool beans. IMHO, the Leesburg route is the better of the two. A few twisties, lots of sweepers, and fairly scenic. I'll go with that one unless several would prefer the shorter Clermont ride. Clermont is where I hit 58 mph on a bicycle, flying down Hospital Hill in one of the sprint races a few years back. At those speeds the bike feels like it's hovering a quarter inch off the ground. :o Probably could've broke 60 if I had nerve enough to stay on the aerobars, but I didn't want my hands that far from the brakes.
BTW, I decided to start a new thread for this ride to make things easier to track.

I started another thread for it, but basically the plan is this: This Saturday, July 22nd, meet at the Publix shopping center at 717 N 14th St. in Leesburg, 10 am or so. It's a big shopping center on the west side of the road so it should be easy to find. Stop at halfway point for lunch at a little BBQ place I know near Ocala. (Bring cash, they don't take credit cards.) End ride at Gurrant Park in Umatilla.
So far I have RodK coming, and a buddy of mine with an 1150GS will be there as well. Anyone else?
