I just ordered and received a set of Grand Touring USA grips for the V-Strom. I got them from Bike Bandit - http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/product~pf_id~4775336~section_dept_id~1170244~terr ain_dept_id~1171505~cat_dept_id~1426700~product_de pt_id~1426700~mfr_name~Grand+Touring+USA~selection _Path~4.asp

Well, during the installation last night, I took off the stock left grip and tried to install the new Grand Touring in it's place. The grip is larger than the stock bars and slides right on and then spins freely!

I can't see how this grip will work without spinning or sliding off? Am I in need of a ton of grip glue or is this a lost cause?

I had a pair of these on my last bike and loved them. I was sure the V-Strom had 7/8" bars and these would work well.

Your thoughts?

Thanks,
Bo

Did you get the left and right mixed up? Maybe they sent you 2 throttle grips. :?

Were you installing the correct replacement grip on the correct side? The throttle and clutch side grips have different I.D.'s.

Not to be rude, just starting at basics.

You can also buy grip tape, commonly used on golf clubs, to build up the diamteter of the bar if needed.

Pretty uncommon for them to be that sloppy if they are the right size though. Is there a chance they were packaged incorrectly?

I'll have to check tonight when I get home.

I had a couple different projects going on last night and I know I was pretty frustrated whenI saw the grip just sliding around. I never removed the right grip since I wanted to ride this morning. :D

Thanks for the quick replies.

Hi! I'm a moron...

Never attempt two tasks at the same time... (still shaking my head).

You guys were right on. Put the smaller holed grip on the left and leave the larger one for the right side.

At least I'll have something to do while it's raining tomorrow.

If it's any consolation, my paint job on the muffler protector turned out well tonight. I painted it flat black and will mount it and shoot photos tomorrow. Should look great on the Blue & Black 2005.

Anyway, thanks for the help.
