anybody else have a problem with the thumbscrews loosening and falling off?
not often, but its happened to me 3 or 4 times now in the past 2 years, I do ride a lot of washboard gravel roads.
I have to give madstad credit though, I ordered a set last friday evening and recieved them yesterday

Hey RandyO. Do you have the wingnuts on the ends of the thumbscrews or the nuts with the rubber backing? I had the same problem with the wingnuts.

I have the knobs, I also have a habit of adjusting the screen on the fly, I always seem to get the left side tighter and have only lost that side once

That's what I'm getting at. The original bracket had a knob attached to a bolt with a wingnut on the other end. If you still have that setup they have a tendency to fall off. The newer setup has the same knob/bolt combination, but has a nut with an attached rubber washer on the other end. This works much better.

never had the wingnut type, I have the newer setup, btw, the instructions say to put the rubber washer on the knob side.... the special nut is designed to slide in the slots so you wouldn't be able to put the washer on that side anyway
the bolt seems to stick thru far enuf that I may be able to double nut it with a nylock nut
