Stopped to fill up the truck on my way home from VA Beach. Watching all the rumblers go East on 58 when a nice BMW sport-touring bike caught my eye (don't know witch model exactly), followed closely by a red Strom with no stickers. The rider was wearing a silver helmet.

That was me! going home to Va Beach from the Blue Ridge Parkway -- my first ride in the mountains! the other bike is my buddy's/mountain guide's FJR 1300.

got my wii 2nd hand this past February -- previous owner removed the stickers.

had a great time riding on roads that aren't flat and straight; covered 934 miles in 2 1/2 days . . . can't wait to do it again!

Finally, one of these threads actually turns up a response! And I feel like a dunce for seeing that FJR and thinking it was a Beemer, but from your pic it was clearly you two I saw.

Hope you enjoyed your trip! There's nothing like the BRP for some fun riding. How far is it via 58 from VB? My father lives near the northern terminus of the Parkway and it takes him about 3.5-4 hours to get to VA Beach (we were all there this weekend for a wedding).

we went as far as waynesboro friday night which took about 4 hours including a stop for fastfood supper - - - i think - - - wasn't paying much attention to the time; just havin' FUN!

hate to admit it, but i started off the trip living up to the DL in DL650 -- i "dropped left" . . . AGAIN!(in the parking lot) newby mistake -- AGAIN! stalled trying to get rolling, had the wheel turned too soon, and fell over . . . well, i wrestled it to the ground, rather. My ride buddy/leader was concerned i'd be rattled by that. shoot, dropped it so often i just hop down and wrestle it up "skert"-style. but it did succeed in moving my state-of-mind from "wired" to "heightened attention."

had a great time in the BRP -- what do you ride?
