The Wee and I, joined by wife on her Funduro will be traveling around the Colorado/New Mexico/Utah area for about 8 -10 days. We have a couple of must do's (santa fe, 4 corners, pikes peak) but looking for suggestions from those in the area.. or those who have ridden the area:

Good day trips?

Places to see... places to not bother seeing ???

Looking to avoid the more "advanced" rides (i.e. extreme twisties, etc..) looking for the more laid back routes... Good dirt roads... etc...

Thanks in advance

New Mexico - sites
Santa Fe
Taos (and taos pueblo)
santuario de chimayo - if you're into churchs (one of the oldest in north america)
bandeleer monument.
cumbres and toltec narrow gage railroad - in Chama
Carlsbad Caverns.

NM - roads to ride - basically all of north central new mexico is one big forrest.(these are all paved)
US84 from Espanola to Chama
enchanted circle - Taos to Questa to Red River to Eagle Nest to Anglefire to Taos. some tight mountain turns but mostly beautiful forrest highway at 8500'.
US64 from Taos (across the gorge bridge) to Bloomfield. again a few tight mountain turns, but beautiful road. (be sure to stop at the overlook before tres piedras)

literally thousands of miles of forrest roads.

NM - roads NOT to ride.
NM 550 - if at all possible. it's boring and known to have drunken drivers on it.
NM 666 (or whatever it's called) from Farmington to Gallup. see NM550.
NM285 from Clines Corners to Carlsbad. unless you're actually going to Carlsbad caverns. imagine superslab through Kansas.

hope this helps.
