Michigan to Alaska - May 27 thru June 21 - 2009

As the title says. Me on my 2005 DL650 and my Dad on his 1200GS. We are packed and ready to go, will be leaving mid - Michigan on Wednesday May 27th. We are heading up through the UP.

Anyone who wishes to join us is welcome. I will be checking my PMs and this thread for the next week or so.

Anybody who could lend a helping hand along the route ( just in case :) ) drop a note here.

Be prepared for very cold temps and possible snow if you plan on riding the whole way up to Alaska.

It is a great ride. We went last year in July and we had a few nights that went to freezing!

Can you post your intended route? are you going to go straight up through canada then over? I'm assuming thats your plan.

We are heading through Ironwood, MI on to Minot, ND. Then on diagonally towards Whitehorse, through Moosejaw, etc. along the way.

I was thinking I might meet you up in canada on your way back. I'm planning a 10 day hike from june 1st through june 10th here in south dakota. Might be able to hit you up from the moose jaw area back down through North Dakota if your coming back the same way. Would be a nice little trip for me, I'd probably go up through montana and over. You coming to Rapid City, SD for the rally at the end of june? Would coincide almost perfectly with your return (the 25th through the 29th). And there's the dakota dual sport rally going on from the 18th to the 22nd.

Plus that would give me someone to ride back with all the way to the Black Hills.

In terms of timing, we would probably be coming back down about the right time, but I think we may take a different route back and would not be heading through Moose Jaw, etc. on the return home. Either way if you are interested somehow, send me a PM. I leave tomorrow.
