Hells Canyon Ride

Hope this hasn't already been posted, but for those interested there is a ride thru Hells Canyon that starts in Baker City, Oregon - May 19-22, 2006. I don't have any affiliation with the event, but I will be there unless Uncle Sam has other plans for me! Any and all riders are welcome. The web page with all the info is listed below. Unfortunately, I think lodging is running out fast so if you are interested in going you may want to reserve a room or plan on camping somewhere! Also, they offer a "tour package" but it is my understanding that you don't need it to show up and have some fun.

Just found a room at the El Dorado at the event discount(she didn't know what it was yet). It is definitely getting harder to find a room. The other guys in the group in the office are staying in the Best Western(full). By May I hope to be riding a Wee-strom, if not, the Venture will get me there. Hope to see you there. :D

I just got approval from the wife to go.

How do we get a group from Portland/Vancouver to ride out and gather up others on the way East? Get a little V-Strom team rolling...

I'll probably camp (to make it more affordable).

In the tour package that I received they have a link to a group page where people can post questions and group ride info. I think that would be a perfect place to post info for V-strom folks (or others interested) and come up with a time frame, route, etc. At this point I will be making a detour to visit friends in Heppner, but if it changes I would definitely be interested in riding over with other V-stromers! If nothing else, it would be fun to pick a place to meet up in Baker City during the event weekend. I will put the link below to the group page and if nothing has been started by this evening (can't get signed up from work) I will activate an account and get it started under "V-strom riders". Just a FYI, if you are thinking of going to the Hell's Canyon Rally there have been posts on their forum page that atleast one local dealership in the Portland area has offered to do a free trip inspection for any of the riders who are interested. We all should be giving our bikes the once over before rides anyway, but a second set of eyes never hurt and free is a good price. Anyway, call Pro Caliber Motorsports in Vancouver, WA for details or check with a shop closer to your home. Maybe they are offering a similar service in the spirit of the rally.

Sounds like a fun ride 8). I'll have to check my calendar out and check with the wife :wink:. I have a sister-in-law in La Grande that I could probably stay with. I would prefer to camp. We'll see. I'm checking with Southforkspeedster to see if he's up for the rally.
Since I can't make it to the Vstrom Gathering in Reno maybe I can ride in this one :D.

Hope you and Southforkspeedster can make it. The more Strom riders the better. Plus, it will be great to put some faces to names and see some of the folks that ride in the area. Should be fun!
