luggage strap attachment points

While trying to figure out an attachment point on my seat bag, I came up with this idea. Hope it might help someone out. Take a piece of webbing, fold it through a small chain link, install grommet and attach to bag, box or whatever. These give you a good anchor point to strap down a jacket or whatever to the top of your seat bag as well as your hard mounted tailbag / trunk.

You'd be better off buying a Wolfman Beta bag. I bet it will hold more than you can fit in those two bags and is designed to fit your bike with all the straps you need.

I usually pack it with what I need for the trip. Then there is too much room left, so I pack my pillow too. There's nothing like sleeping on your own pillow away from home.

After reading your reply, I realized my post was not clear. The purpose of the links are to provide an attachment point for strapping items like jackets etc to the TOP of my seat bag and hard mounted tail bag. ( they aren't needed to hold the two bags together )

I am surprised to read that you recommend a Wolfman Beta, since finally after 1 week of e-mailing back and forth and getting wrong / silly answers from them, someone from Happy Trails just advised that I need the Wolfman Alpha for best fit on a V-Strom.

From the Wolfman website http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Tail/BetaRearBag.html :

"The Beta rear bag has a straight channel for the seat that is 11" wide. Whereas the Alfa rear bag has a tapered channel that is 8" in front to 12 1/2" at the rear. Other than the channel the bags are identical."

Which is best fit for the Strom?
