Wanted to get some feedback from any Vstrom owners that purchased their unit from a Central Texas dealer. The local dealer in Waco is Barger's. They've always been very nice and attentive to tire kickers even; just wondered if anyone had an actual purchase event with them. Any other Suzuki dealers you might wish to recommend? I suspect I'll purchase a new DL1000 locally or try to find a used unit in Texas anywhere. Thanks in advance for your input.

I just purchased a 2006 V Strom 1000 from Woods Cycle Country in New Braunfels. They were great and I highly recommend them. They are truly motorcycle enthusiasts and care about who they are selling to. I tried to buy the bike in town but no one had it. I'm sure there's good dealers here in Austin too.

Took delivery of my DL1K a couple weeks ago from Granbury Motorsports, Granbury, Texas.

About as cheap a price as I could find anywhere ...

Try Central Texas Powersports in Georgetown. Ask for Isaac.

I just now found your post about buying in Central TX. I bought a DR650 new in 2003 from Bargers. I felt like I was treated fairly. I live in Temple, but drive up to Waco to do motorcycle business with them. I plan on buying a weestrom when the 2007 models come out.

I had a nightmare experience with the Impact Kawasaki dealer in Harker Heights (near Killeen). I won't go into details, but I never go near there again.

Good Luck,
Carl

I likewise bought from Bargers. I have no gripes about the place, the full of cow poop sales man who tried to tell me the blue '07 V could run with my buddies FZ1 is nowhere to be seen though! Aside from the bs, I got what I wanted and don't feel like I got taken. What steered me that way in the first place was the good things I had heard about the service dept., but I have had no need for anything I can't do, so far!! Nice bunch for the most part. Will go back, when I have to!!

I bought mine used at Destination Cycle Sports in Kerrville about a year ago. I was just calling all the dealers near Austin looking for a leftover new one, and found a pretty good deal on mine.

Woods is in Austin and in New Braunfels, I've not bought from them, but I have dealt with their service guys and parts department, they are pretty good and have always been able to answer any questions and help me out when I needed it.

I bought my 08 from A J Foyt Cyles here in Houston. I had a set budget to spend. They worked hard to keep me in the budget and get all the riding gear and farkles purchased and install for the the amount i had to spend. Only issue is thier parts department are a bit slow ordering. i purchased the bike on 04/05/08. i still have not received the topcase, hand gaurds, center stand i found out they did not place the order till the 10th.

I bought mine on Thursday at Central Texas Powersports in Georgetown. Pretty good so far. The sales staff were easy to deal with. Only dealt with service once today to take a lsiten to the engine, everything is good and they tightened the chain a bit -no charge.

I am in San Antonio and have calls in to most of places mentioned here looking for an 08 650 ABS in stock. Besides the Killeen dealer, any one have any other nightmare experiences or at least uncomfortable experiences with dealers in Central/South Texas?

I passed through San Antonio at Joey Harrisons on the way to Mexico last summer and had some of the WORST and most expensive service I ever had from any dealer.

I just picked up a 2007 V-Strom from Barger's in Waco. And while I'm a complete newbie I think overall it was a relatively painless process.

I purchased the bike for $6,250.00 and I feel that was a pretty fair price. It has around 8000k miles on it and the bike is clean. Only accessories are wind-guards on the grips and crash-bars (no skid plate), but I'll be adding bags real soon.

Since I'm so green the salesman only let me tool around the slightly gravel-y parking lot, but I'd done enough research to know the "wee-strom" is a decent ride, especially for someone just getting into it.

I took my MSF course this past weekend, got my license monday, and bought the bike today, so you could say I'm enthused!

All things going right I'll have the rest of the money and my insurance lined up by mon/tues of next week and if you see a guy riding a "oort gray" V-strom and you can tell he's grinning ear to ear through his helmet...it might be me...
