Going to Newfoundland this summer, so I'm whiling away the hours at work planning our route from Oakville, Ont.
I see a way to save some hours by going to Sherbrooke, QC, then going cross-country into Maine at Coburn Gore, then down to I95 and eventually re-entering Canada at Calais.
It looks like pretty wild country between Coburn Gore and Augusta and we would be getting into that territory around supper time, which makes me wonder about gas, food and lodging.
What do you think of this route? It looks more interesting than just riding along I90/I95 or going 401 and 20 along the St. Lawrence.
Any opinions welcome!
Cheers, Tony

From Oakville, you may want to consider crossing at Prescott ON, then travel thru Lake Placid, Vermont, Mt Washington Valley, Rangeley Maine etc towards Calais. Do the Fundy Natioanl park as travellling thru NB

You could cross over at Cornwall or Ivy Lea too. I've been East along that route a couple of times. If you're not in a hurry there are some really enjoyable roads. The ferry ride across Lake Champlain is excellent on a nice day. You've got lots of options, do you have time or is it going to be a rush?

Thanks for the replies.
We'll be in a hurry, Oakville to Sydney River in two days.
My sister-in-law lives in Sydney River, so a day with her and then catch the ferry. We want to maximize the time on the island and have a day or two left over for visiting.
