To be fair I had all the material in the garage except for the j-bolts, ($2.58).
Pic 1 - Materials used:
1 piece 1/32'' steel approximately 9X14".
2 j-bolts 1/4/20X4" (Cut to desired length) with nuts and washers.
2 pieces 1/4' I.D. fuel line, (Cut to desired length).
2 8" Ty-Raps.
1 rattle can Rustoleum Satin Black.
Pic 2 - Parts assembled as they go on bike.
Pics. 3 & 4 Factory holes in radiator bracket where j-bolts attach.
Pics. 5 View of right side of installation on bike. Note location of ty-raps at bottom of radiator.
Note: Weight is completely supported by the j-bolts with the fuel line covering.
The grid itself rests on the solid outside frame of the radiator and NOT on the fins. The ty-raps carry no weight and just keep the bottom of the grid tight to the frame. The hardware will get painted to blend in. Nice solid installation for a fraction of the "Store Bought" price.
