Thinking about a ride around the Chesapeake Bay

I’ve been kicking around the idea of a ride around the Bay. I’m guessing it’s about 400ish miles and would be done in one day. So far my plan is Annapolis MD, counter clockwise to VA Beach, across the bridge to the Delmarva Peninsula, up to the Baltimore area, then back south to Annapolis. I’m looking at routes to stay on as many non highways as possible. Looking to do this sometime in April or May but am highly flexible. Drop me a line if anyone is interested in joining me or has any suggestions on a good route.

HHmmm, i would be coming from NorthCarolina, that doesnt really sound like a bad idea, i wouldnt mind "kickin" around Virginia Beach for a day or so.

Im light on the skids, ready to pull pitch. I have been on many of the roads: Maryland/Virginia. One or two day trip? I will be going to the Gathering of the Stroms May 17th to the 23 down south to ride the dragon and check out the V-Stromers. But just say the word, pick a time and let the Strom begin. :)

Sounds like fun, but if you plan on covering 400 miles and stay away from highways I dont know if it can be done in one day.

Any of you Tri-State area guys planning on going down to this Deals Gap Strom gig?

I did this last year, albeit not on the Strom. Also included a loop over to Hwy 1 in DE. Great ride. :) Somewhere along the Hwy 1 part I encountered a young calf taking a jaunt down the side of the road going in the same direction as me and to my right (egde of pavement). Given the large trucks I had passed previously I knew trouble was near so I ended up herding this calf w/my bike (a Two Bros piped crotch rocket) down the road for over a mile until it was so tired it laid down. I then walked up to it and contained it until the local fire dept came to it's rescue. One of the FF took a pic of this scenerio but I have no idea where it is at this point. :( Hopefully your ride doesn't include encounters w/cows.

I'm the first officer of the Southern Cruisers, Mattawoman chapter. We're in southern MD and have been kicking around the idea for doing this ride. If you're still interested, let me know and we'll hook up. Be nice to have another V along

Not going around the bay this week, but Sunday (7/16), we're going to Fredericksburg VA.
Hooters is having a bike show from 12-6. We're planning on stopping on Rt.301 at the truck stop just north of the bridge to VA about 11:30 to pick up some more riders. We'll be heading down Rt.218 after we cross into VA. Real nice road, low traffic, shady and enough curves to be interesting.
