Just thought I would share a few pics of the new tyre for the Strom from Maxxis. This tyre has been out for about 3 weeks as I write

Dont know how they compare to the original Maxxis tyres, but the originals do seem to have had a decent writeup. The coin is a 5p piece in case the pics dont come out clear enough.
Had to have a new pair fitted as the originals had been on the bike for 4 yrs and were showing signs of squaring off and cracking . Just hope they do the business in terms of long life and grip etc. They only have about 8 miles on then so plenty of time to get used to them. Priced at £180 from M&S Newcastle, ride in ride out. The first 4 pics are from the rear tyre the other 4 from the front.

Yep, looks just like mine did after a couple hundred miles. Now, my picture at 6200 miles would be the center section worn down smooth, no diff between tread blocks and the bottom of what used to be the grooves. They are one and the same now.

I like the tire, but for the $110 I paid for it when they were still selling them to the USA last summer, it isn't as cost effective or a better performing tire by a large enough margin to justify changing them close to twice as often.

I have another rear Detour on hand (bought 2 since the front is said to last 2x as long as the rear) but I want to do a Battlewing on the rear, as it looks to be as long wearing of a dual sport tire as there is. Save the Detour for another year, or someone who wants to buy it.

Didn't I just read a posting not a week ago that the Maxxis line of tires for street bikes was no longer avail. in the USA???

Yes.....and these are not a new line of tires for the Strom, I believe they came out 2 years ago. Many people liked these tires, but the mileage is sub par compared to most.
