My Cee Bailey is too tall even on lowest Mastad setting with Mastad mounted lowest (came with bike). I drilled some extra holes to lower it about 1-1/2' which was max without too low over headlight - not enough,,

I figure to drill some more holes to lower it and then will need to trim the bottom. If I lower it I will also be able to adjust it! No way I want to try to trim that perfectly shaped top.

My arroach would be to use tape front and back and use sabre saw with blade for plastic. Not sure yet it I will uniformely trim bottom or just lower part over the mid section. Not sure best way to finish the cut edge either

Anyone done this and have advice before i start?

My two cents....a sabre saw is going to be really difficult to control with precision. I have both a sabre and jig saws. I have trimmed a couple of shields and a jig saw with a supper fine toothed blade works outstanding.

And yes, you have the right idea, to tape front and back. I also laid an old bath towel on the bench and used a couple of extra towels under the contour of the shield to support it while cutting.

After you cut it, a series of sand papers, followed by steel wool help you finish the cut to a professional look.

Good luck!

Thanks JNO - sorry mispsoke - I meant jigsaw - I'll try your idea of the sandpaper on the edge. Might try to cut mine mounted on the bike first; at least it will be steady- take is slow and see how it goes.
