I am planning a road trip to CA next month. I am looking for a disc lock with an alarm already built in. I wants something that I can lock on the bike while staying in the hotels. I figured that a disc lock would be the smallest to pack. If it had an audio alarm to alert me of someone trying to run off with my bike that would be great. I am just beginning to look around the internet for one. If anyone has some suggestions I would welcome them.

I have a Xena with the alarm and it is very sensitive and makes plenty of noise. Not too cheap though and most dealers have them, at least here in San Diego they do.

How long do the Xena unit sound off when disturbed? I've been thinking about getting one these, but don't want it to run out into a hotel parking lot in the middle of the night to shut if off all the time.

They sound off for around 30 seconds and then reset themselves.

I've been checking out this Xena locking system with alarm. It sounds like a great solution.

But I'm trying to figure where to buy the batteries for it. NOT ONE website I have been to has a shopping cart that will allow you to buy replacement batteries or show you the price of them. That has me worried. Some sites have cheesy forms that you fill out for replacement batteries for 2 years, etc., but I'm scratching my head on this.

Does anyone know where to buy the batteries for these locks?

Mine came with an extra set of batteries. I've been using mine every day for the last year and the original batteries are still going strong, mind you the alarm hasn't activated very many times. The batteries are regular watch type batteries and should be available from many places.

Ah good to know. Regular batteries that you could buy at say Radio Shack?

How do you like the lock, I read a couple posts on another board where a few didn't like it. No problems?

Hmm, after more searching I found this site: www.motorcyclegearreview.com with over 20 reviews for this product. It seems that most people like the lock (newer models especially) and just a few don't like it. I guess there are some lemons there, but hey that's always the case right?

I guess I'll buy this lock, sounds like a good solution.
