Hey Charlie. Thanks for the nice words about the website. I can't get Jack out of bed early enough for him to come on a long ride.

Jack does take some fine pictures though. We need to get him to trade in that BMW for a V-Strom.

My husband and I hope to make a meet and greet soon but don't know whether it will be the March one or not as our daughter leaves for the Navy on the 27th. But soon. I have an 04 Blue Vstrom but my poor husband has a BMW Roadster so this trip it will be him in the minority instead of me.

Mike here from Orange City. New transplant from Pennsylvania. My Strom is an '04 1000 I picked up as a dealer leftover this past April. I've got 18,000 miles on it so far and I'm enjoying every mile.
I don't know the roads around here too well yet, so I probably won't lead any rides real soon, but I might consider holding a tech day after I get settled in my new house. Any interest in something like that?

Hello Everyone

Tampa Tom
Little secret....I live in Zephyrhills, FL (Zeph-er-hills...known for home of 50,000 snow birds in winter...and 35 mph traffic that turns left in front of you at any given moment with no warning)

Hey Tom,

I grew up in Dade City (north of Zephyrhills for the rest of you). Now living between Plant City and Tampa. We had an old joke about Zephyrhills;

Q? Where do all the old people in St. Pete go on the weekend?
A! To Zephyrhills to visit their parents.

Hope to see you at the M&G Nov 4th.

You know the Snowbirds are here when you go to McDonald's at 6:00 PM and there are seven people in front of you and all seven are paying separately for an ice cream cone at $0.99. My guess is...They were sitting around the shuffleboard court just 15 minutes prior when somebody yelled out...."Let's go get an ice cream."

Hello,

I’m new to the forum and to street riding. I’ve been lurking on this forum for a good while and wanted a Vstrom 650 but it didn’t work out and I bought a 2003 Kawasaki ZR7S that I really like. Both of the guys I ride with have Vstroms but don’t ride very often. I keep seeing a silver Vstrom near my house in Sanford near SCC and wonder who it is and if he is on this forum. Sorry for the long post for my first post, but the people on this forum seem to be good people and I would like to find a group to ride with. If you would like to ride give me a shout.

mnparadise,

The State Park Tour starts at Clermont, barely 30 miles from your door, early on Friday March 30. You can find all the details in the thread "2/3 day Florida State Parks ride", in the Florida section.

If you cannot join the ride on Friday, then perhaps you can meet us part way between your home and Sarasota, then stay overnight at Lake Louisa State Park, which again is not far from your home. And if even that is no good, consider attending the feast on Sunday.

You are actually near the center of much of the activity!

Hi Ken,

I think we met you yesterday at Publix on Archer road. The Florida group is a really nice bunch. They even don't mind Rick (my Harley guy) joining the ride.

There has been some rumbling about planning another ride. Perhaps a "couples encouraged" ride from Cedar Key towards Tallahassee. Perhaps overnight? Sounds like fun to me. I would love to have some more ladies along.

It was great meeting you. I was a little hurried or I would of talked all day (just ask Roy). I should of asked what site you guys chat on. When I found the Florida section here I figured I hit it.

I'm planing on a horse country/istichatta run this Sunday. Roy knows the route (he showed it to me). If that sounds like something you would like to do drop me a email toycloser@bellsouth.net

Howdy,

My name is Marty Stanley, aka Fl-Strom.

I've been wanting to make one of your events, but since I work just about every weekend, it has been hard.

However, we're going out on a bit of a sojurn on Thursday, May 10th. We'll be leaving, at least I think we'll be leaving from the BP station just west of Deland on highway 44. From there, only the Spirit knows where we'll be headed.

I live over in Lake County in a small town called Umatilla. We've lived here going on 29 years and don't intend to pull up stakes anytime soon.

My stable consists of a 2006 V-Strom - DL1000K6, a 2006 KLX250S - which now displaces 331 cubic centimeters, a 2004 KLR650, a 1994 EX500 - which will become the basis for my KLEX500 and a restoration project a 1974 Honda CB350F - 4 cylinder.

At present I am a full time MSF instructor working for a company in Port Orange, Volusia Motorcycle Training. I've worked for several providers in the state, but in my opinion, VMT is the best school in central Florida.

Looking forward to getting out and riding with you next week.

Garrett "Gary" Hatch - Palm Coast, FL

Picked up a black '07 1000 last Thursday in Wytheville, VA.

I rode around SW Virginia for a couple of days, changed the oil then rode straight through to Palm Coast.

Just under 800 miles (so many roads, so little time). It would have been several hundred miles shorter but I had to do the mountain route. Also got recertified in rain riding and night time riding in the process.

I may be getting older, but certainly not any smarter.

Robert Murphy in Pensacola checking in here. The more I ride the wee, the less I am inclined to keep the ST.

Looking forward to post-break in period.

Another new Wee strom owner, and first bike owner also, for those that know pinellas county area, Im in Seminole Fla.
Im still as fresh as they come when it comes to riding , but I spent about 6months deciding what a good beginner bike would be, and one that would fit my idea of riding, the strom so far seems to be the right choice. Took the MSF course then made my final decision and bought the 07' Grey Wee last week.
Not quite ready for a long ride yet, but I do look forward to the future, and meeting some of you all.

Hello Winnie:

Sorry I am so late getting back to you. I truly appreciate the invite. I have been traveling a bit lately. I will be in Cedar Key in November (I love that place). My wife likes to kayak, I like to ride so she is going kayaking with her club and I am taking my bike down.

We just got back from Murphy, NC and are going to rent a house there for a year. We are going to buy some acreage in the area and want to spend some time there to be sure we find the right place. The riding in North GA, SW, NC and SE, TN is awesome and so is the kayaking. With taxes and insurance as they are in FL, we are looking to move.

However, I will still maintain a home in FL with only liability insurance on it.

Regards,

RM

Hi RM,

We like to kayak also. We have a small fleet the does not see the water nearly enough. Be sure to give us a shout before you arrive in November and we can arrange a get together involving bikes and perhaps even boats ;-)

We also love North Carolina. We have access to a friend's house in Burnsville (east of Asheville). We usually spend one week up there in the spring and another in the fall. It’s so beautiful but you will never get Rick to move any further North than Gainesville Florida. That boy HATES cold weather.

So keep us posted about your November visit to Cedar Key and we will get together!

Sold My HD Sportster and picked up this sweet thang! My Name is Joe and I live in New Port Richey

Hi Folks. I haven't posted much since this but would like to follow through and get to know some fellow riders and get this scoot dirty. All my riding has been on paved roads since I got my Wee. This is unacceptable. Looking forward to some group rides. Weekends are best for me. I made a similar post on ADVrider in the eastern regional forum under the Central Florida Dual-Sport thread. My user ID is the same over there... Any rides comin up?

Hello troopers :)

My name is Rusty and i live in new port richey, in the trinity area. I was born and raised right here in the bay area.
I recently picked up a black '07 Vee Strom. So far i am very impressed. I also have a 2000 TL1000R and will sometimes be riding that. The missus sports my last attempt at comfort, a 2001 VFR.
I try to ride just about every sunday, if anyone in the area would like to meet for a sunday ride-out, please keep me in mind :)
Looking forward to getting in on some of the group rides! EVENFLO drop me a pm and we can catch a ride.

ditto on the bikes and boats, we have ocean Kayaks, and love a day with a paddle. too bad a Kayak rack wont fit on the strom, or we could do that combo ride.

My name is Matthew and I live in Orange City, FL. I've lived here for almost 12 years and my daily commute for the past nine years has been back and forth on I-4. Two years ago I bought my first motorcycle and now I actually enjoy the ride to and from work. I can count on one hand the number of times I've driven to work in my car since then.

Just picked up a 07 "fast" Blue DL 1000 today. So far so good. Had put 6,000 trouble free miles on a red 06 wee, before driving it to Pennsylvania to present to my son. (I kinda miss the wee already!):) Interested in meeting other North Florida riders for rides/tech, etc. Cheers!
