I just picked up a Jetboil java kit stove. I tested it a few times and wow does it boil water fast. It'll boil 2 cups water in 2 1/2 minutes! I bought it to throw in the saddlebags because it's so compact. Even the coffee press fits inside. I plan on picking up the pot holder & stabilzer kit as well so I can use it with frying pans.

Another avid JetBoil user! I was the first leader in my son's scout troop to buy a jetboil, and now we all have them. Works great, very compact, and quite cool. I've used mine to boil several MRE's for some hungry scouts, and daily to make coffee/tea while camping. Great device!

Hi Guys,

Used mine a couple of times and like was said, it works great... I noticed on another forum that the makers have a deal where if you buy one through the forum or mention the forum or something, you get the frying pan and stabilizer free. Too bad I already have mine... wish I could remember where I saw it. Maybe the Internet Motorcycle Campers or something... oh well, it works and that's unusual in this day and age... Jeff

If you guys have not checked out alcohol stoves for camping, do yourself the favor. This is the bible for alcohol stoves http://zenstoves.net/ search and enjoy. All will boil 2 cups of water for camping pack food in less time than you think. After trying a few, the best design I have tried was the http://www.csun.edu/~mjurey/penny.html penny stove. Since I often have my wife along this is the only stove I found that will boil 4 cups in one filling. It is fuel thursty but a med MSP bottle of SLX will last more than a weekend. I like the fact that all of these stoves fit into my greatlands mess kit so I only have to carry fuel as excess. check them out. the penny stove only costs a 6er of Heineken but boy was it delicious.

I have the Jetboil Group System (has more boiling capacity, pot instead of cup) and I love it. Took it on my sons scout backbacking trip and it worked great. The guys with the traditional backpacking stoves were amazed at how fast water boiled. I bought the group system, but plan to buy the single system cup for $30, and will have the single system. The group was just more economical to convert to a single, then going from a single to a group. If you have an REI near, wait for their 20% off single item sale and pick one of these up.
