I would like too install an electrical outlet ( cig lighter ) on my VS. The main purpose at this time would be too recharge my digital camera batteries in my tank bag.

Questions:

Whats the best location. I know it is usually placed on the top black fairing side panel.

Where can it be wired too.

How is the plastic to cut with a hole saw.

Do you have to remove parts to do this job.

Gerbings sells a kit that includes everything from battery, fuse holder to female BMW (John Deer) outlet with hole cap for this, plus the BMW male to Gerbing heated clothing adapter cord. Cost is about $25.

I have it sitting at home, but am at odds at where to drill the hole as well. I'd also appreciate hearing where other riders have installed their outlets.

jastek sells great kits for this- they even have one with a DL1000-specific harness.
