I am looking for suggestions on a motorcycle maintenance book or manual that pertains to V-twin Japanese motorcycles like the DL-650.
Thanks,

Yep. That's the way to go. I'm not sure that there are other options available anyway. Spend the $$ and get the factory service manual. If you plan to keep the bike for any period of time it will be money well spent. The factory manual will give you accurate information. The manual, combined with this site, will be more than enough for any problems you may encounter.

Without having to go to the local stealers is there a preferred site that anyone has used to purchase a manual?

I bought mine from Ron Ayers (http://www.ronayers.com/). I believe Oneida Suzuki (http://www.oneidasuzuki.com) also carries them. I have purchased parts from both and have had no problems. Hope this helps.

I picked mine up at my dealer in Belleville. I paid about $100 cdn for it. You can try the US sites mentioned but with the 80 cent cdn dollar and shipping you may not save much. You may want to get a price from the internet and see if your dealer will give you a break. I do that regularly with my dealer and it works well. The dealer has plenty of room to lower his price if you ask.

I was in Belleville about 10 years ago and thought it was a great little town. I hope it hasn't changed much since then. I've been itching to take my family up there.

I got mine at www. repairmanualsonline.com - genuine Suzuki manual - cost to Canada, including shipping was around 85$ I think. Much cheaper than local dealer ($130). Suggest also looking online for a CD-based manual which can often be had for much less, only inconvenience being you have to print out what you may need for a job.
