Ordered/recieved a shiney new pair of cordura riding pants for my wife. Unfortunatly they are "male" pants and dont even come close to fitting the feminine form. The hips are tight and the waist too big.

She is 5'9" with a long leg.

Hoping one of the gals on the forum can recommend a good cordura pant that is 100% waterproof and a removable liner.

Cheers

This is a common problem with motorcycle gear. I'd suggest getting a larger size and getting it tailored.

I highly recommend the Olympia line of pants and jackets. I have the ladies ProMax pant (that co-ordinates with the ladies AST touring jacket). I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs and the womens "Small" fits me just right.

It is waterproof and has a warm pant liner that can be a stand alone pant in a pinch, when you're travelling. Also has full leg zippers and armour at knees and pads at hips. First thing I did though, was remove the hip pads....I don't know of any woman that wants more padding on her hips!

I bought mine in the States, at a BMW dealership in Warren, MI, so didn't have to deal with inflated prices in Canada or the insanity of having them shipped to Canada. Just wore them home.

I'm going to invest in the Airglide Pants next year, which have mesh and are a better weight for summer riding.

Might want to check out the First Gear line too. Their Escape pants are made gender-specific (intended to fit right in the right places). Top shelf stuff at mid shelf prices. And you might find them at dealers [check out the local BMW shops] - I hit a holiday 25% off sale recently at one.

Got a high viz AST touring jacket in October, very disappointed that it seriously leaked, I was in rain for several hours and was cold and soaked, leaked thru the arm vents big time, and probably thru the shoulder vents and fabric, as well, I was wet there too. Front zipper did not leak, probably cuz I was hunched over trying to stay warm.

I reviewed the web site, which says it is waterproof. It is not, at all.

The place I bought it has agreed to give my money back.

It looks good, though:(

I purchased fieldsheer booster pant for Bonnie before our spring ride down the coast of oregon, and I wish I had bought myself a pair! She loves them. They DO come in ladies cut, and she really likes the fit.
She liked how the Joe rocket ladies pants fit, they look more form fitting, but I had heard many stories about the zippers failing on the JR's.

That's a shame that you seemed to have gotten a lemon AST jacket Lynne. I have ridden many rainy miles in mine and have stayed absolutely dry and warm. I've found it such an advantage to not have to stop and hurry into a rainsuit under an overpass anymore.

I own a full Joe Rocket suit in addition to the Olympia suit and use it for warmer weather riding. After 4 years I haven't had any wear or zipper problems. I'm wearing it in my avatar.

It looks good, though:(Mine is two years old and has not leaked, nor that of two co-workers. But there have been a few leakers reported on advrider.

The new First Gear TPG series are pretty nice, and they seem more true-to-size than most motorcycle gear.

Check the zipper on your jacket: First Gear and Olympia zip in opposite directions.

You mean you can't talk your wife into riding commando? I guess that only works when you're newlyweds :)

I would have to say that the Olympia Airglide is the best I have ever owned. With the liner in, it is completely water/hail proof and warm enough in the low 40 degree range. The high soft lined collar comes right to the back of my helmet making a nice rain barrier. The pants are comfortable and reliable and suit my 5'7" 125lb. frame.

I work in the motorcycle apparel industry and have never had an Olympia Airglide returned other than to exchange a size. Great Stuff!! On occasion I have enjoyed the Rep. feebies, but purchased the Airglde outright because I have not found anything better suited to my style of riding. Although.....I sure would like to try that Revit Infinity suit. Gasket sealed zippers and all. Too Cool!!

I also bought the Airglide pants this season. I am 5'11" an 34" inseam. I picked up a size 14 and they fit great. I picked them up at Goodtimes Centre in Ottawa. They have a warm, waterproof liner and are comfortable without the liner too. Nice to finally have a pair of women's pants!!!
The jacket on the other hand, had to go with men's (freakishly long arms LOL)
Picked up the Olympia Air Transitions and LOVE it!!!

I need to get some nice clothing for my wife. Something stylish, GoreTex and good quality. She is used to being comfortable and we are just getting back into riding.

She's 5'6" - 36 - 25- 35, and has long legs. When she rides, we want to ensure the pants don't ride up too high up her boot. Plus, the crotch shouldn't be tight either.

Any suggestions?

I have the Olympia Airglide II pants. In a slow lowside (20mph) they shredded VERY quickly right through to the liner. If I had been going 40 mph I would have been hamburger. Many of the textiles will melt to you also. Cordura is one of the better fabrics.

Here is a link to some Kevlar blend textile mesh gear that will actually protect you. http://www.motoport.com/

It is pricey, but I am saving up for some. They custom tailor too.

Howdy BillieBob, I've got the long-legged curse, too. I ride ATGATT and historically always wore leather chaps... last winter in 28F riding I decided to hunt out some riding pants with rain liners.

I tried on something like 15 pairs of pants, I read about 40 reviews, and I FINALLY found a pair of armored textiles that have the heavy cordura and good foam inserts all the way around. My measurements are quite close to your wife's, :mod2_innocent: though I don't quite have the awesome slender waist she does... :bom_furious3:

I had a super hard time finding pants to reach my 34" inseam but that were still cut for a woman and could handle my shape without turning me into a box. Eventually I succeeded!!!! I got the Joe Rocket Women's Ballistic 7.0 pants. They have 3 options for cuff length (all in 1 pair of pants, hidden snaps) and you can set the knee armor in 3 positions (pockets on the inside). I did remove the hip armor, since it made my hips seem HUGE to me and I figure I've got plennnnnnnty of padding there. I wear mine with cuffs all the way down and knee armor in lowest position. They're black with black flower embroidery, just girly enough for me without being... um... pink (blech!).

Here's a link. I bought mine locally to support my favorite shop and local economy. :)

Crashed on the other side at maybe 10mph and wore a hole through the knee patch.

So I bought the TP3 pads from AeroStitch and cut them down to fit the pockets.

Another fellow on Advrider hit a burro at 65mph and he and his wife slid down the highway on them. Outer shell was torn up but his resultant rash seemed pretty minor.

On track days they flat won't let you ride with mesh gear. I bought some used Vanson leathers because they're heavy leather and will hold up in a crash. Not the thing for everyday wear, though.

Just a shameless little bump to point out that I'm selling some women's Fieldsheer Four Season mesh pants in the For Sale section. Great pants and brand new! I've worn the men's version of the same for over a year. These just didn't fit my GF.

They're not cordura, but draggin' jeans make womens' fit jeans with kevlar. They look good (although a friend bemoans the cat hair on her black jeans style), and have good protection and may be worth a thought. Get the Aus made ones, for some reason everyone says not to get the ones that are made wherever the Aus ones aren't!

Don't get their elbow or knee armour (except back), I find it too bulky and use softer armour I got elsewhere.

They aren't waterproof, though, so would need rain pants. They are a nice bridge between normal streetwear and MC. Relatively warm because of the Kevlar.

For waterproof mesh I've just bought the Scorpion Savannah mesh pants, reviewed in webbikeworld. Waterproof liner, great looking, good women's fit and the first feminine looking ones I've seen. Yet to try them out though.

PS Harley and others now make kevlar lined jeans, too.

My wife and I each bought the First Gear Airpant II at CycleGear in Vegas when we were down on holiday...These mesh pants have a removable water and windproof liner. I chose the FG Airpant because it comes in tall sizes. I am very happy with this product. (I hold no shares in First Gear or CycleGear)

These are decent. All sizes have a 33" inseam. Very similar to the Rocky Tucker S&S line, these were distributed by Rocky Tucker. Three layers, outer, waterproof, and quilted thermal.

SmalltownSarah, thank's for the report on the JR Ballistic pant's. I'm about your size & your report steered me in the right direction.
