My previous bikes all had an integrated helmet lock on the frame. Needless to say, when I purchased my DL650 I was a little disappointed in the fact that it did not have one.
I just purchased two helmet locks made by Motion Pro. They are designed to mount on any round 7/8" bar.
The middle-upright bars on my Hepco-Becker crashbars also measure 7/8", so I mounted one on each side, one for my helmet, and one for my wife's.
I even got lucky with the keys that came with the locks. One set actually opens both locks, while the other set only opens the lock it came with, so I only have to carry one key instead of two.
The only problem I encountered was engine induced vibration. The "hook-latch" on the locks vibrate noisily in the lock housing at about 7000rpm. I remedied this by sliding some silicone tubing over the latch, which created a tighter fit.
As can be seen in the third picture, the lock comes with "one-way" screws that are not removable. Make sure you have the positioning you want before tightening.
