I have a ScalaRider that came with my TomTom Rider2, but dont actually ever use it.

You might want to check these out as well, made in Winnipeg, Canada;

Scala stuff is fine and works as advertised. We have two sets (4 headpieces) that we use for rider to pillion and bike to bike communication.
To connect your cell phone to the Scala is easy and obviously the FM is no problems because it's built in but it's more difficult to connect MP3 palyers unless you go through a GPS (TomTom or Garmin Zumo). The Scala units do not support stereo over Bluetooth.

I purchased a shark on the *bay. all features have to connect via bluetooth. But my phone is bluetooth capable and has a good player in it. The intercom works great but not good for bike to bike. Biggest draw back is it only lasts about 3 hrs of use on one charge. Oh btw it is stereo. and can charge from usb port of from ac charger both of which were included. price was reasonable enough, just over 200 for the set of 2.

I tend to agree with Randy-O. By the tme you screw around with all the $100 stuff out there and work your way thru the pile, you'll have just as much or more invested in your pile of marginal stuff, than what you would have with the AutoCom the first time. I've followed these threads for years and it seems like everyone that cmoplains about shitty performance, road noise, cross talk, feedback, etc. eventually breaks down and buys an AutoCom. Too bad they just didn't do that to begin with and get it over with.

Autocom is the only way to go

Broad generalization above...

I have the Scala Q2 stuff and I am very happy with it. It does what it advertises, but I wouldn't say it is "the only way to go" since I have not compared it to everything else.

After much research, I am buying a set of the ScalaRider Q2 headsets. I wanted to avoid having wires dangling, battery packs, radios, etc. I really liked the idea of the Collett system, but its very expensive and rather bulky.

If it is longer range (greater than half a mile), then you will have to go with something utilizing some sort of radio.

Cheers!
