Hey guys,

I've had my Strom for a little over a month, but have been riding on the streets for a couple of years now. With the increasing accidents and more bikes on the road it inspired me to come up with a safety product :D

http://vegaledmodulator.com

This is shown in my vehicross since my led bar hasn't come for the strom yet.

This controller will work with any LED light bar and can be something that you have turn on with a switch/key or powered by the brakelight. I personally plan on just having mine triggered by the brake for the rear, and then one mounted on front to a high powered white or amber led bar on front.

It has 20 different patterns, and it controls not only the brightness of the leds, but the duration of which they're on/off. This will NOT damage or shorten the life of your LEDs, in fact it'll increase their life in most cases.

I'm still working on sourcing some different light bars and clusters that I could offer with the Vega for those of you(us) with out an led brake light.

If you want to run a switched Vega setup with a rear flashing light, and a front flashing light you only need one unit. :) The Vega can handle up to 3 amps, and most of the powerful led light bars only draw ~200mA.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Thanks guys!

Richie

FYI the frame rate of my Point and shoot camera that I shot the video with isn't great so the LEDs don't look as "SMOOTH changing"

Guess dimensions would help :)
Length:2.265"
Width:1.515"
Height:0.585"

It's very small...

Could you give me more information on the unit. do you hook it to existing lights or add light bars. where do you get the light bars. Could light bars be put on luggage and work as well? More light on back is really good. Thanks

I think you should post in Group Buys and Stromtrooper Inventors-Product Showcase.
Sorry man, hope I didn't inconvenience you too much  :D ;)

You can install on existing lights (if you have led) or add led bars we will be offering a few different versions, ranging from $10-$50. I will be putting mine in my GIVI topcase. Might require some customization, might be simple, just depends no the case(s) you're working with.

I'll be updating this weekend with images of it installed on my STrom

Just installed it in my V-strom...

I installed an ULTRA BRIGHT 45 Lumen White LED in the front of my Strom (currently it's surface mounted, but I'll be doing a nice recessed mount behind the shroud)

It's the same LED that surefire uses in their Flashlights. (1 watt Luxeon)

Then in the back I installed a 3 LED Lightbar in my GIVI, I will be installing a larger led bar with brighter leds, but that's all I had for now.

The site is updated with videos, and I literally just finished the install. Video is shot with a point and shoot again so it's not crystal clear. You can see on some of the shots how bright that front LED is. I'm probably going to install a Red one (1 watt Luxeon) in the back too.

Both the front and back LEDs are being controlled by one Vega Unit. Turned on by the ignition.

:D

Thanks guys!!

When I get any bike, I plan on getting on for the rear.

But as for the front one, do you expect any issues with cops, it almost looks like a wig wag flasher a cop would have.

I wouldn't anticipate any issues especially when used for a brakelight flasher. Our units just control an existing or new led bar, so they don't do any wagging. I've been driving around with a flashing LED Brake light in 3 different cars and have never been pulled over for it (YMMV)

I even have had a Brake light that did different blinking patterns like knight rider and never been pulled over or questioned.

-----

On the front, I think it's best to use an Amber hue. I'm going to switch mine out. It's very visible at night, but I think having an amber contrast with the whiter headlights will make it more visible and less confusing to other traffic. It'd be more like the conspicuity lights they put on postal trucks, and Construction trucks. I would check local laws, but I believe amber would be perfectly legal.

also wanted to say your site only works with well with firefox, internet explorer didn't seem to work.

Yeah Thanks!!

I put a disclaimer at the top. MSIE isn't very good at compliance, and for some reason the popup Javascript goes to the corner instead of centered. I have a message in to the Developer of that pop up, but haven't heard back. When the site officially launches (november 10th) All should work well in all browsers.

I appreciate the feedback, I wasn't aware of the issue until last sunday when I tried MSIE (don't generally use it).

Available for purchase now :D I also think I got the MSIE issue fixed... atleast for 7.0 if anyone using 6.0 can confirm that would be great as well...

Coming soon will be a few different LED options for those (with motorcycles mostly) that don't have an LED brake light.

The Vega will work with up to 25watts of incandescent as well. Just not as smoothly.

Thanks everyone! (**cough** tell your friends **cough cough**) ;)

:( I'm guessing you have MSIE 6.0 I guess I'm still having issues with it... Sorry everyone... I guess for now MSIE 7.0, firefox, or Safari will be the best way to view...

Thank you For the response!! I don't have windows at home so I couldn't test it out.

I don't think any flashing light on the front of your motorcycle US or Canada is legal. Just because you haven't been pulled over doesn't mean it's legal. Only headlight modulation is allowed and there are certain specification they are required to meet. I was pulled over once for my headlight modulator and was able to proof with paperwork that it was allowed. If I couldn't have show it was legal I would have been in for a bad day. It was stated to me he thought I was trying to impersonate an emergency vehicle (big fines).

New website Launched, Videos being updated daily!! I hope to have more Motorcycle videos soon...

Currently the only product offering is the Vega itself, but keep checking back as we're going to be adding LED light bars, and other custom LED products.

Thanks everyone!!

So far feedback has been great on these units, and we've even made a few improvements based on customer feedback.

Thanks again!

Thanks to those that have ordered!! Remember if you send in videos of your Vega in use we'll add it to our site :)

Soon we'll be adding individual LED bars that can be used with the vega for those who don't want to tap into the original brake lines or lighting system.

If anyone has recommendations for other products that you'd like us to carry or that would make sense for us to carry let me know.

Thanks again everyone!! Got my Wee out last night to go to the fly fishing film festival... Drove home through a snow storm, and woke up to 3" of snow on my lawn... and wee :D Guess it goes back in the garage tonight.
