I want to change the bars out for (yes I know you'll think I'm crazy) sportbike style handlebars. I actually have found that when I crouch I am more comfortable. If I got risers I would probably feel better as well, but in the position that I'm in now my back wears out. When I lean over and bend my elbows my back feels much better. And the style is better.

Next,

Steering stablizer / steering damper. I read an article in a mag about these and it seems like a good bet. I don't know much about them yet, so I'm looking for some info and what you guys think.

Steering stablizer / steering damper.I don't ride without it. It can save your life. No tank slappers and no ground irregularities grabbing your front tire is a great thing.

I don't ride without it. It can save your life. No tank slappers and no ground irregularities grabbing your front tire is a great thing. Just read your thread on your accident with the tank slapper a few years back. It makes me think about those times where I've pushed it too. And I have a bent wheel causing a wobble. The addition of both of those and it's a wonder I made it. I know I need to get it fixed, but that's however long that I don't get to ride while it's still nice out. I figure that it's not that bad at reasonable speeds and I'll ride it out until the winter when I can afford to put it away for a week or two.

What do you use as a stabilizer / damper? (are they different things? sorry!)

do you know if the kit comes with a street verison or off-road version of the scotts? I have an off-road version, so the mount would only cost like 150.

Also, have you guys seen the pads for the scotts. That thing hitting your chin in a crash would suck.

I'm pretty sure it's only the adjustment settings and possibly the link arm that differ between kits. Contact Scotts to ask them what changes you need to make between two or more specific bikes. Their contact page is http://www.scottsperformance.com/contact.php
I would only ride with a helmet providing chin protection. There's more stuff out there to hit besides the Scotts.

My helmet has chin protection as well, but not underneth. I was in a crash and have smashed my chin under the helmet as I was coming down and the bike was coming up. Grated the situation was an off-road whooped out high speed get off, but I would not rule out the same thing happening in a crash on the road.

Not only that your chest could also be smashed there. Again, I've been there jumping on my DR. Flat landed a jump and my feet were off the pegs when I landed. I dam near knocked the wind out of myself on the bars. (the damper was not on the bike at the time, but I would have had a nice imprint of it on my chest had it been there.

Those are the 2 reasons I suggested the pad.

Thanks for the link.

I did call. The difference is that the on-road dampens away from and back to center. The off-road only dampens away from center. He said they would both work, but the kit you order comes with the on-road damper. He told me that the arm is the same. I could just get the mount kit and use it.

My GPR on the KTM dampens in both directions. I may sell the damper off-road damper and get a kit with the on-road one. You usually don't have to wait when you put them up for sale. I bought mine used, but had to look as they disappear quickly.
