I don't watch cooking shows all that often, they always seem to be making something in tiny proportions and with ingredients that I can't even pronounce. So it was a pleasure to happen across a show with someone cooking "guy" food. My gal, Cheryl, is a pretty good cook but she learns something new every night watching "30 Minute Meals" on the Food network, even takes notes. I don't think I've ever seen anything prepared on this show that I wouldn't eat. Oh, and all you single guys out there, I already checked, Rachael's married.

I have to comment about the FHM. Somehow, I have a subscription. I can honestly say I didn't do it but it may have carried over from a promo sub that I had with Stuff magazine (no longer getting it).
My wife gets beyond pissed when my FHM arrives. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get her over this problem? I want to be able to look at it without the feeling that I am going to get stabbed.
I am more nervous about looking at FHM now then I was when I was 13 and sneaking peeks at my dads playboys that he thought he had hidden. Funny thing, he gave me his collection a few years ago. "I had a feeling that you wanted these" he said as he presented them to me. Wow, Madonna did have hairy armpits. :D

Back to RR, another unique aspect to her show is that she cooks in "real time" and does most of the tedious food preparation (e.g., cutting vegetables) during the 30 mnutes prep time. Now she's super efficient (doesn't measure ingredients, makes only one trip to the frig, has a discard bowl at the ready), so you may not match her time, but at least you know you can get from frig to having something on the table in a reasonable time.
Oprah is promoting her so I think she's going to become very popular. She also has a show where she travels to a city and eats three great meals for $40/day which is in the same vein - practical and reasonable-cost eating out.

BK-Invite a nubile female over for some cocktails and munchies. then tell the missus "I can either look at pictures or look at the real thing." It didn't work for me, but YMMV. I also have an open sofa if you need to crash here.
