I own an 05 DL650 that I bought from the first owner this April. It came with a Scorpion SS exhaust already installed and the stock muffler as extra. I love the sound of the Scorpion at idle but I'm afraid it's too much for my older ears at speed. I recently passed a large group of classic cars one after the other (a ralley) and I noticed the older passangers in the convertables wince as I went by. One woman even covered her ears. I hate Harley's that are too loud and I don't want to fall in the same group so I'm going to swap it out for the original.
If anyone in the Okanagan is looking to install a really sweet muffler that's almost new just give me a call or send me an e-mail. All I'll be asking is the cost to have it changed over.
Cheers

I saw that someone already contacted you about the muffler, but if that doesn't work out, I'll take it.......dlwarman@yahoo.com

Wow, being a 48 year old rider I had no idea there would be so much interest in a SS muffler. I mean, I like it but it's certainly not something I'd run out and buy myself.
So....rather than e-mail back to everyone I'm posting my response here.
1. As much as I appreciate the offer from some of you to do the work for me and replace the muffler I have two concerns; a) you'd arrive and there would be some small part missing and it won't be available locally so we won't be able to get the job done or b) and please don't take this personally, but because I'm absolutely not mechanically inclined myself I just have a greater comfort level with taking it in and having it done professionally (yes, I know how crappy some work can be but I really trust the local Honda dealer here in Penticton)
2. I called the Suzuki dealer in Westbank and they tell me it shouldn't be more than a half hour job. The only thing that I forgot to tell them is I have a Givi rack. I don't know if it has to be removed to make room to deal with the muffler but if it does it may add some additional time. They say though that they get a lot of people asking about used parts and there's a desire for mufflers like this so I shouldn't have any problem getting $200 - $250 by just putting it on their bulletin board.
Here’s what I’m going to do. I’m getting a major preventative service done next month before I ship my bike to Phoenix. (I’m riding a month in Mexico two-up with my wife this January) I’ll pay to have the muffler swapped out at that time and immediately post it here for sale for $200 plus shipping. I’ll post pictures but I can tell you that it was purchased and professionally installed in 2006 by the original owner and he gave me the receipt along with all of the other service records. Since then he put on approx 4,000 klm and I’ve put on an additional 8,000 klm It still looks and sounds like new – just louder than I’d like. It’s guaranteed for life whatever that means, but I doubt it’s transferable to subsequent owners.
The first person on this bulletin board that wants it after I list it can have it.

So now that you know you can get at least $200 for the muffler, you know it will only cost you about $80 to have it removed, and you have a waiting list of people your going to change the deal. Nice move.

This is certainly not in the spirit of the original offer. I am going to lock this post. Please don't offer it for sale here anymore.
Thanks,
Ray
