About $150 from Cee Bailey's website. I got the 21.5" screen for my 2005 DL650, clear (no tint), installed on the lowest position. I am 6'2" with a 32" inseam.

Good installation & care instructions although they are not really needed for most of us. I am sure you guys are like me and you've played with the stock windshield so many times you could take it off and reinstall it in your sleep.

Installation time was about 5 minutes taking my time. Take off the little screw covers, take off the stock screen and throw it off a cliff, install the new screen, tighten the screws in sequence, then install the covers. Go ride.

Nice looking box and packaging, really well protected for the ride from Cee all the way to Michigan. I saved the box and packing for my stocker. I'll never re-use the stocker unless I sell this bike and sell the Cee screen on eBay or something.

Overall installation looks really good. There is a really slight warpage in the screen, afterall it is a hand formed part and I am OK with it. For as well as this screen works, I don't care about a slight warp. It gives it character. The screen does not look obtrusive, in fact I think it looks cool - looks very utilitarian and meaningful / important.

The optics are spectacular. You can look through the screen with lots of confidence. No problems. Slow roads and trails, I look through the screen. It is nice to be able to do that will all the protection. On the highway, the wind protection is also spectacular. I cannot believe how well it performs in fact. I can ride with my helmet open on the highway. I love it. I can actually hear the injectors and other engine sounds, and my Staintune pipe sounds that much better (since I can hear it more often now).

Overall fit and finish is really good. Looks better than factory and really looks good on the bike. I like the utilitarian look of this bike, and this additional protection makes it look even better in my opinion. The craftsmanship of this product is excellent. The finish is incredible.

Performance is excellent. It's quiet, smooth, buffeting is gone. I can ride all day long without the bobblehead syndrome. I really, really like it. Two words: Absolute Perfection. I just cannot understand people who have tried this screen that don't like it. You're on a motorcycle people, not in a car with the windows up. I've never experienced as pleasurable of a riding experience as provided by this screen.

Overall - very satisfied with this product and my purchase. No further adjustments needed, everything looks good and feels great. No fiddling or adjusting - just happy riding. I highly recommend this product.

hey there twins,
how did u come up with the 21.5 inch height? i'm 5'11 with a 32 inch inseam. did cee-bailey recommend this height? or u just took a shot in the dark? just curious as i'm ready to heave the stocker too

how did u come up with the 21.5 inch height?

Here's what I did. I wanted to be able to see over the screen most of the time, did not want to look through it. So I took a thin piece of masonite (it's like paneling) and cut a 4" wide by 24" long strip. Then I marked it in 2" increments, starting at the top. I clamped it vertically (the long way) to the stock screen, right in the center, using some small plastic spring loaded clamps with rubber tips, and I started with 6" extending over the top of the screen to mock up the 21.5" Cee Baileys (15.5" is stock on my bike).

Then I rode around on the local roads to see if I was trying to look over that piece of masonite, or through it, then I went home and adjusted it up to the 8" position. Rode around again, and I found that I was trying too hard to look over the 8" setting which I did not like. The 8" setting almost forced me to look through it and / or the top of the screen was too close to my line of sight.

I switched back to the 6" setting, verified that I could see over it most of the time, yet I could crouch down and look through it if I really wanted to like on a cold rainy highway jaunt. I went back and forth a few times and verified the 6" position. Then when the Cee screen came in the mail, I totally knew what to expect and there were no surprises.

You probably ask about this because they recommend a 23.5" screen on their website for a guy my height, but I am really glad I did not follow their advice. I am pleased with the height I selected.

hi there again mr. twins,
a few more questions 4 u if u dont mind.
1- i am between 5'11 and 6'0 32 inseam. do u think i ought to make a template as u did? or should the 21.5 be good enuff?
2- r u using any washers under the lower bracket bolts to get additional rake? if so, were the washers supplied by cee or did u supply your own?
3- kinda dumb question. i know windstrom offers a 30 money back. was wondering if the cee had a return policy? and are they willing to talk to u over the phone? if u cant get it fine tuned? to lend support? i dont know about mpcycledesigns. when they first started posting their results and pics i was thinking maybe they had the cure-all. but, in the past couple months since they supposedly started putting them out there are very few glowing reviews. in fact, none come to mind. its not a money issue. but why spend $300 when $150 will work just as well.
4-if remember correctly cee offers 3 different models for the strom. which one did u get?
5- i can almost tolerate the stock up to about 55-60 mph on a calm day with no winds. however here in florida during the winter gusty winds can be a constant thing. could u give me your observations? what about at 30-50 mph city driving protection? 65-80 mph hiway speeds? actuall stability while at freeway speeds and dealing with traffic? how does it handle gusty crosswinds? did it make the bike more or less stable in crosswind situations?
6- lastly i'm at near six ft. u r 6'2 .we have the same inseam. i'm built like a sherman tank at 250lbs. are u slender or a "normal sized person?"
i have come to realize through reading all these threads that findin your sweet spot screen is not a cut and dried formula. what works for one guy another guy will hate. i mite also add that having my arms and shoulder in the wind does not bother me. i'm just tryin to find a little peace and quite and some more "stabilty" at speeds over 55 mph.
as a final thought, have u tried the cee with a passenger? any comments from them?
thanks in advance for your thoughts, donnie

1. I'd say that the 21.5 is probably good, but it wouldn't hurt to make a template and try it out. I learned alot doing that and it only took about 10 minutes.

2. No washers were needed and none were supplied. It's good to go right out of the box using your stock fasteners.

3. I don't know on the money back thing, but I bet if you got the wrong height you could exchange for a taller one or whatever. Call to find out for sure.

4. There was only one model for my bike (2005 DL650) but I could choose colors (I got clear) and height (I got the shortest one).

5. The bike feels way more stable to me. I am not getting bounced around by the wind, and there is way less turbulence. Feels really good at all speeds. I was OK to about 55 before, without the screen, now it is really good all the way up past 100.

6. I'm 6'2" and 180 lbs. Kinda on the thin side. My shoulders are wide though, and the upper shape of the screen really works. I can feel wind on my shoulders, but it is minimal and not an issue.

Hope this all helps.

Great review and dialogue on the Cee Bailey. I am 6'0" with a 32" inseam, and am looking a replacement windscreeen for my '05 DL1000. I have the stock screen set at the highest level and at highway speeds (55 to ~120mph) I get some annoying buffeting near the top of my helmet.

I took The Twins advice and did the "clamp something to your windscreen" trick with similar results. The 23.5 looks like it'll be too tall.

I do believe the wife will be buying me a 21.5 for Xmas. :D

I will provide a full report...

I have some, just don't know where / how to post / host them. I took some before / after from exactly the same vantage point so you could see the difference.

I installed a 26"Cee Bailey after using the stock and ZeroGravity tall screen and there is no comparison. I am 6' with a 34" inseam. I have a non-adjustable 03 1000 and the two shorter screens just didn't cut it. The short screen left your head in full 'I should be on a no screen Harley mode' and the ZeroGravity screen gave me noise and buffetting that made me think I was in a prize fight and lost.

The Cee Bailey 26" does an awsome job of blocking the wind to the sides and routing the wind over the helmet at least at 85 mph speeds. Worlds of difference from the other two screens. At full lock, my mirrors hit the screen and needed to be adjusted, but it was a small comprimise. At 26" the screen was possibly just a bit tall because the line of the top of the screen would interfere with my line of sight in close quarters city driving. When on the interstate it was no problem and personally I was more than willing to trade the sometime interference for the ability to totally duck behind the screen (ie passing semi). I would reccommend this screen for sure it was money well spent.

TheTwins,

I noticed you added hand guards to your bike. Do they hit the windshield at all?

Received and installed my 21.5 Cee Bailey's windshield about a month ago. Between work and weather haven't had much of an opportunity to give it a good test... until this past weekend; had three straight days of awesome weather and riding. I am completely satisfied with this windshield. The buffeting around the top of my helmet is gone. I can ride with the windshield on my helmet open, very nice.

I agree with TheTwins that the 21.5 is the right size. I believe anything taller would be too tall, especially considering the motorcycle's three height adjustments. I find myself tucking behind it during aggressive cornering :D . Much higher quality than the stocker. Installation... duh. Packaging, pricing, delivery, all as expected. Thanks to TheTwins (and Cee Bailey's).

I bought a used bike and it had a 23" CeeBailey on it. I like the wind block compared to the stocker but I am 5'10" with a short torso and I have to look through it or just at the edge. If anyone has a shorter one and wants to trade I would be glad too. Doesn't have to be a Cee either, just not a stocker. I have one of those.

Sorry for the late relply. The hand guards do not hit the windshield at all. Plenty of clearance even at full lock. There are contours in the sides of the screen that work well to accomodate the mirrors. Mine are stock by the way.

Help!
I really like the looks of the Cee Bailey windshield. However I have read on some of the forms. That the windshield mounting holes were to large and the shield when mounted looked lopsided.
I was wondering if anybody who has this windshield on a DL650 would care to comment.
Thanks for the web address ChrisW123. 8)

That was my post on the holes and the lopsidedness. :) I notice it every time I look at the windshield! As for the holes, it's not really a big problem. I haven't had any problem at all with the stability of the shield given the bigger holes. It's no problem. As for the lopsidedness I may cut the shield so the top is slightly arced. The quality of the material is great, although I'm no expert, I have washed the bugs off a couple times and their are no scratches, crystal clear.

I continue to be happy with this screen. I've cleaned it a few times with the Plexus cleaner and DuPont wipes, what nice stuff that is. Cee has a good product here - this screen took away the nasty buffeting and it has not come back.
