Well, I just HAD to jump in here. 31 years ago yesterday I packed up my car and left Ohio for California. 31 years ago RIGHT NOW, I was checking into the Holiday Inn in.....you guessed it, Springfield, Missouri. How weird is that? OK, I'll go away now.

Grr... this weekend seems to be stacking up against me. I would love to. And looking at the weather this is going to be a perfect week for it too. Perhaps Monday? I'll let you know.
I'd love to see your rout! There's a lot of this area I've yet to explore.
And yeah, anyone else in the area is welcome to come along!

So, Aimpoint, this 350 Jawa you had in Iraq. What was it like? Old or recent vintage? Reason I ask is I had one in '78 with a Velorex sidecar and had a ton of fun with it. Is the Jawa a common bike over there? What other kinds of ride are common over there and how come it was confiscated?

This bike was nearly brand new. The Jawa is the most common bike in the Fallujah area anyway, I can not speak fr the rest of the country, but would venture to guess that it is the most common bike.As for the reason it was confiscated....lets put it this way, the three people that were on the bike (yes I said three) were doing "bad" stuff with thing that go boom and no longer needed the bike. The bike was the prefered transportation of former Republican Guard soldiers in the area to carry out attacks on our forces.

This morning was the coldest yet at 22F, but as long as no snow or ice, will take bike to work. Hands got a little cold, will try to get my heated grips installed this week. With the proper gear, riding in the cold is not too bad. Wearing a good pair of Olympia winter gloves, tourmaster transition jacket and venture pants. The bike has oem hand guards which block the majority of the wind, but the heated grips will help alot. Also need a blue seas fuse box and steibel nautilus horn...

I couldn't agree more. Nothing wrong with riding in the cold as long as one is properly equiped. I've got a heated jacket liner but am also going to get heated grips and the OEM handguards. I bought a blue seas fuse box awhile ago but have not as yet installed it. Haven't decided on the best place to put it yet. I lived in Chesterfield for five years and worked across the river at Midwest MotorSports in Hartford, IL before moving back to WNY. Ride safe and stay warm.
Home of the Throw'd Roll!!! Mmmm, Mmmm, GOOD! Was up your way in April '07; would love to ride those rolling hills north of Springfield on Hwy 65. I've got family in Springfield, Urbana, Cross Timbers, and parts beyond. Moved my folks up there when they retired - back to their old stomping grounds.
Anybody ever riden over to Becky's in Galmey for one of those plate-covering tenderloin sandwiches? Jeez, I swear four people could eat off of that one platter!

I don't think I am the one you saw, but I do live in Springfield and I just bought a DL1000 K6 yesterday. It is red and has full luggage. I don't know that I've seen any others here, but then I really haven't been looking as I didn't have one either till yesterday.:p
