I am headed north up to thompsonville mi. next week. Anyone have a suggestion on a fun route to take? Good Restaurants along the way ? Attractions? I am leaving from the jackson mi area. Other nearby routes within 50 miles or so?

I would recommend riding M-119. Beautiful ride. A little crowded on weekends. Should be better with school starting and the weather cooling. M-119 is located in Emmet county.

Restaurants.

Three come to mind:

1. Boones Long Lake Inn has a huge New Strip that is their signature steak. You won't leave hungry. They are close to Thompsonville. http://www.booneslli.com/Boones/index.html

2. Marion's Windows (formerly Windows) restaurant on West Traverse Bay used to be a great place to eat. Haven't been there since they renamed it and changed the menu, but it was always good. http://www.dineatwindows.com/

3. The Apache Trout Grill is also a great place to eat. http://apachetroutgrill.com/
