I can't answer the original question or even the follow-up, but...
I put the medium pro-taper atv bars on my wee. I left them the full width, which was wider than the stock bars. This meant that the cables had to reach farther and I could not pair the bars with my risers. I really liked the geometry with the wider and less-angled atv bars.
My only issue with the installation was that I didn't transfer/drill the locator holes very well, so the angle of my control housings (starter button, etc) were not ideal. To be specific, the first time I pulled in the clutch, it touched the yellow momentary high-beam switch. I had to rotate clutch lever assembly forward slightly. Nothing major, but worth mentioning.
I didn't find a bar-end weight that fit the smaller inner diameter of the Pro-taper and the resulting vibration made my fingers itch. It bothered me enough that I eventually went back to the stock bar/riser combo (with weights). When I find a working solution to the vibration issue, I'll probably go back to the Pro-taper again.
I don't take this bike off-road, so I'm going to ditch the deathwings and maybe try some Metzler Roadtec Z6's. That is unless I hear horror stories beforehand. I think that some of my freeway vibration is tread related. My commute is 70 miles/day.

Most have ground the locator nubbs off except for just a small amount rather than
compromise the strengh of the bars by drilling holes in them.
There is a way using (5/16 gas line) (I think) to put the original bar end weights back on.

Guess I may have to experiment this winter.

Pick up a set of the MSR ATV high bars. They have the rise and reduced pullback and your stock bar ends bolt right up. Bonus is that you can pick them up for under $15.00. Not much loss if you don't like 'em. I put them on my V and they're damn good.
