First things first Twisted Throttle (www.twistedthrottle.com) ROCKS! Erik and company provide nothing but top notch service.

Having said all that, I have a (relatively) minor issue with the SW-Motech Alu Rack with the Givi Adapter.

Have the Givi V46 top box sitting on my SW-Motech setup, and now I can't remove my seat. It's a matter of fractions of an inch, but SW-Motech should have moved the whole thing back about 1/2 to 1 inch (12 - 25 mm for the Metric types).

I like the way that the adapter plate mounts to the ALU Rack (3 quarter turn fasteners - and pretty stout ones at that). But they really should have placed them just a little further aft.

Just to be clear, there's no interference with the actual racks...but with the top box...hmmm, maybe I need a new top box. (Honey, Can I spend...<thwack>) Ok. Maybe not.

It's a little frustrating, but only a little because removing the box is easy enough...
1. remove key from ignition...
2. unlock box...
3. remove box...
4. lock box...
5. remove key from box...
6. unlock seat.
(etc)

I could make it easier by not having my box key on the ignition keyring, but that would be worse.

The quality is http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/fingers/fing39.gif
The position is just a little off.

Could someone with the Givi E528 rack and a V46 top box confirm whether or not they can remove their seat without removing the box?

Thanks for listening (reading) and any help.

John <--- a little frustrated at myself.

I have to agree - keep it all on one key fob. A friend of mine is constantly leaving her key hanging out of the lock for her top case, and I'm the one that rides behind her and is always chasing her down to get her to pull over and fix it. On more than one occasion, she's actually left the bag open too!

So, who is this scatterbrained young lassie?

Ah, that's who I thought it was. I hope she has someone like you to take care of her in North Carolina this week...

To kinda get back on topic - maybe the SWMotech folks figured that you didn't NEED to get under the seat now that you have a tail box! :P

Actually, I am trying to decide what racks to get myself. I like the SW rack and its adapters but I figure I'll get Givi cases and probably won't do much else, so I may just get the Givi racks, too. Just concerned about the Givis racks not fitting correctly, tho...

(I am reallly thinking about the setup that Imagine got)http://stromtrooper.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2962

Kcracker,

In answer to your question, the GIVI setup (528 rack and V46) will allow you to remove the seat without any problems.

Thanks Tinman.

Honey, can I spend...

Maybe I can swing it through the minister of finance.

Or do it without her knowing. ;)
