I bought one from Blair and service, ship time, and product were all awesome. I had replaced my stock tires with Tourance EXP's and wanted to tighten up the front end and get rid of the 40-50mph decel shimmy before i ruined the new tires. Absolutely did the trick.

Thanks Blair

Hi Blair, I am still not sure what a superbrace actually does? My bike wobbles a bit at high speed, but so do most bikes I guess, specially if it's a bit windy (lots of that here in Greece). Would the superbrace make the bike more stable??

:) Hi Kim, The SuperBrace is designed to remove the woes you refer to in your post as high speed wobbles, and making your bike planted and stable in winds and cross turbulence on the highway, including the turbulence caused by trucks on the road,

I am completely confident that you will be very happy with the improved ride and stability the SuperBrace provides,

Let me know whenever you are ready, I have them in stock and ready to ship globally,

Enjoy the ride, and best regards,

You don't have to remove anything. All you have to do is loosen a couple of bolts on the base of the fork. Then clamp the brace around the fork right above the boots and tighten the allen bolts on the brace & re-tighten the fork bolts. It literally took me 10 minutes to install it & I put loctite on the brace bolts so they wouldn't vibrate out.

It looks nice & it helps with steering performance. What else could you want? I guess if it was free that would be better. ;) Oh yeah & Blair (SV Racing Parts) ships quickly too.

If anyone is thinking about putting a SuperBrace on their bike, just do it! I was skeptical, but as soon as I was done with the quick (10min) install, I couldn't believe the difference in how the bike handled in corners and how the wobble went away. Probably the best farkle for me to date.

Haven't installed my SuperBrace on my 05 Vee. But I want to give Blair kudos for AMAZING customer service and speed. I ordered it Friday and it was in Houston on Monday. Easiest on-line transaction I have ever completed.

I'm giving Blair 1st shot at my business if he happens to carry an item I am looking for.

I ordered a superbrace from Blair last month. All my emails were answered within 2 minutes. The product came as promised and on time. I'm very happy with the customer service from SV racing parts.

The brace install was super easy. No modification required on my bike. The forks definitely feel a lot stiffer. There is less pushback from the handlerbars. Also, before the superbrace the bike used to wobble back and forth on the triangulated part of my cupped tire ..Now the forks are stiff enough to where i can hold it right on that edge. It feels sorta weird, but i have to replace my tire anyways. The bike holds a line better in corners and is less nervous at higher speeds and against crosswinds. I'm very happy with the product and will do business with Blair again. Thanks :)

I bought one from Blair, was shipped quickly to Canada and the brace was of excellent quaility and finish. It took me longer to find the allen wrench to tighten to machine bolts than it did to put it on the bike!

Got mine last night. Install was the easiest I've ever done. I didn't believe I would be able to tell the difference only having the wee for about two weeks. But man what a difference. I have a few curves on the way to work and it rode like it was on rails.

I ordered one for my bike and one for my wifes yesterday. If the product is half as good as the customer service it will be amazing. Blair has been absolutley fantastic to do business with. He even offered to set one aside for me until I was ready to buy, who else is going to do something like that for a total stranger? I can't recommend him highly enough.

For all of us non-mechanics/handymen! (See Pics below of finished product)

Well, my brace came, earlier than expected! Since I couldn't find any pics or "Super Brace for Dummies" install instructions on our great website I thought I'd just chime in on my experience.

It really is simple. Since I did not want to force anything into place, I emailed Blair, who promptly told me to call him so that he could make sure I, first of all, received the correct part, and second of all was doing things correctly (great service)!

Not knowing what the heck a pinch bolt was (no pics on Stromtrooper for the Wee), or what it did, I first asked Blair about this. After explaining to me that on the DL650 it was a single 12mm hext bolt at the bottom of the right fork, I easily loosened it before installing the brace.

He then explained to me that the Super Brace was engineered so that the beveled lip on the Super Brace sat directly on top of the beveled lip on the fork seal. With a little push the front of the brace sat easily where it was supposed to.

I then put on the rear of the brace and secured it with the 8mm allen bolts provided (Also used the Blue threadlock gel). Blair's next instructions were to pull in the hand brake and push down on the handle bars 2 or 3 times.

Lastly, tighten the pinch bolt back up and it's good to go! The whole process takes 10-15 mins. Can't wait to take it on our 650 mile single day trip through upper Northern California this weekend!

For those who have installed the brace, do you need to remove the front fairing to install it and is there a required tension on the 12mm pinch bolt?

For myself, what is the purpose of loosening the pinch bolt before installing the brace? Is this to ensure alignment of the forks before installing the brace?

Cheers,

:) Hi, you do not need to remove anything to install the SuperBrace,

I get the bike up level, either a rear stand, a center stand, or someone to sit on it and hold it up straight makes it very simple,

I loosen the pinch bolt one or two turns, and loosen the axle one or two rotations at the maximum to release any tension on the forks before your installing the SuperBrace,

I then line up the lip on the SuperBrace, and use a little blue loctite on the socket head bolts on the SuperBrace, and tighten them up good and snug and leave them at that.

I then tighten up the axle good and snug, hop on the bike, pump the front end while holding the brake on a couple of times to make sure everything is re-centered on the axle and rotors, and tighten up the pinch bolt good and snug.

Resist the urge to go Gorilla on tightening the bolts, Good and Tight will do it nicely,

The purpose of the pinch bolt is to keep the axle from backing out, it is not going anywhere if it is tightened good and snug.

All this should take you about 15 - 20 minutes,

Email me directly at b.layton@svracingparts.com if you have any trouble,

BTW: Everyone interested, I still have the SuperBrace for the DL650 and DL1000 at Stromtrooper Special Offer Pricing at $147.55 Shipped Free, anywhere in the USA.

Also, is there a recommended tension on the axle?

:) Hi, check the top area of the SuperBrace, there is a slight lip there to help you line up the SuperBrace on your forks by the fork seal and dust covers,

There is in the shop manual, and if you just good and tight, and resist the urge to use a lever to get that extra Umph tight turn in you will be just fine.

Tight is tight and that is good, the pinch bolt will prevent any chance of your axle backing off or coming loose.

Enjoy the ride, and best regards,

Got my brace today, pulled the DL650 instruction book out before trying to install the brace tommorow. On page 7-38 it states, "A special tool is necessary to loosen the shaft. The special tool is available at Suzuki dealer" From looking at the diagram it looks like the tool is used to both loosen and "draw" out the axle after rotating it counterclockwise.

Do I need to purchase this tool to loosen the axle as mentioned above?

As those who have already expressed the difference a fork brace makes, I have bought one for every bike I have owned. If you don't have USD forks, then YOU NEED ONE!
That is unless you ride like a granny, and not off road either.
If that is you, save your money. If you are one of those who travel faster than the speed limit occasionally, go off road once in a while, or just like the planted feel a good handling bike has, well then, get to ordering!
