I'am trying to store the bike the way the manual says. They want a table spoon of oil put down each cylinder. I'am concerned about getting grit into the motor. If you just pour oil down into the valve covers there is going to be some left at the spark plug hole which will attract dirt in the future. All I can think of is to get a hose smaller then the spark plug thread, then place it into the cylinder. Is there any easy way to do this.

Spray in some "fogging oil", available at your local auto parts store. A can should only run a few bucks, and it comes with that little red straw like WD-40 comes has. I really think all ya need is some Stabil in the gas and fresh oil in the motor if it's to be stored in a garage.

I go out to my garage and run the bike for half an hour or so every couple of weeks, as well as moving it a few feet to rotate the tires. I figure thats as good as winterizing, and I get to hear it run to boot.

Pete,

I hope you don't mean your letting your the engine idle for 30 mins! That's not kind to your motor.

Thanks for the info. My bike is stored in my under ground parking lot. I put a good coat of wax on, applied rust inhibitor, refilled with fresh oil, removed the battery (recharge it monthly), stabilized the gas and put my bike cover on it. I even put the tires on cardboard to get them away from the concrete. You can even put 10 psi more in the tires so they will not flat spot, but on todays modern tires with kevlar this is not a problem. Monthly: I start the bike up and run it until it's warmed up (5 - 10 min.), move the bike around and depress the brakes and clutch. I plan on getting it back on the road in April. I think placing oil into the cylinders is for longer durations of storage.
