Aux lights, need some

I want to add some extra lights to the Strom. Anyone have suggestions on good quality hi output lower draw beams? I am thinking I can only spare around 75 watts for these. TIA

I looked at a lot of different ideas. I am going to use Hella 500 lights with PIAA 35w "extreme white" bulbs.

I figure the stock 55w bulbs will overtax the charging system, but the PIAAs should put out nearly the same light (maybe better) at 35w. I am currently using the PIAA 60/55s in the headlights, and they are much brighter than stock.

I went with the Hellas because I have them on my truck, and like the beam pattern. They are also relatively inexpensive (compared to PIAA). The PIAA lamps are very nice but triple the cost of the Hellas. The Hellas and the PIAA bulbs together were 1/2 the price of the PIAA lamp set.

Stay away from the generic auto parts store lights. The reflectors are inferior and will not put out the light or the beam pattern of the high $$ stuff like Hella or PIAA.

have had the motolights on a klr for over a year and they are awesome.ridden through 2 winters without even replacing a bulb(30,000 miles)down low enough that you can run them pointed straight forward without blinding oncoming traffic and they put out way more light than 35 watt bulbs i've used elsewhere.an all-around excellent product despite the high price tag.great also when driving in the rain,you see the spray instantly when a 4-wheeled cell-phone hits standing water in front of you on the road and you have more time to prepare for it. :idea:

I've been thinking about the feasibility of mounting a pair of PIAA SuperWhite 35w lamps on a custom fabricated bracket inside the front fairing so they're mostly out of sight. Has anyone else tried it or thought about doing it?

I like the idea of more illumination, but I don't want a set of lights cluttering the bike's appearance (as well as garnering the interest of a passing thief) if I can help it.

These guys specialize in accessories for BMW's. I bought one of their radar detector mounts for my BMW, now it's on the strom. Great quality stuff and their lights have a ton of different mounting options. I like that they can be positioned any way you want, and then you can rotate the beam, and they are not to big.

I have a set of MotoLights calliper mounts on my dl and I have not had to use them mutch but i am always impressed when I do turn them on at night. although I have to get a new bulb as one died whilst running a fire road off Wolf Pen Gap. the 35 W left in the one bulb is still an improvement during heavy rain.
