Hi all,
Finally, a forum for the rest of us!
Thank you Brendan.
Hopefully now that we have a place of our own, we can focus on our own issues of concern when it comes to 'Stroms, biking in general, women's clubs & sites, and whatever else comes up.
It's very much about sharing.
This is an area for WOMEN'S ISSUES ONLY, and I hope the guys here will respect that. It's a public forum right now, and I sincerely hope that we can keep it that way.
I'm looking forward to being a part of Strom Sisters!

Hey Janice
Good on you. Strom women unite. But there is no way that guys will respect that you have started this just for women. They will come up with all sorts of snide remarks as we have witnessed already.
Cheers

Thanks for your support. If your wife would like to participate, we'd love to have her, even if she's a non-strommer.
There aren't too many female strommers, the bike is way tall, eh?

Ill tell her she is welcome here! BTW, she rides a HD V rod, which has a very low seat height, but she has to look for tall inseam jeans when she shops:confused:

Good Luck and Best Regards and don't forget, I Love You Man (or is it woman?)

I'm a moderator on another site and we have a Ladies Only forum....we had to password protect it..the password protection also motivates women to be more apt to join/post there.
Otherwise, IMO, (and as it is apparent already in this thread) this forum is no different from any other on the board. Not a concern in my mind, but for many, I'm sure it will be.

As one of the few eligible to post, I have a few thoughts.
If it really is a forum for women only, why can't the other posts be ignored/deleted?
Since this is a web forum, and we do not have dna testing, anyone can pose as a woman.
I support the idea of this forum, but do not feel that we need to defend or explain it, and with respect, find the `male supporters` patronizing.

I will simply ask for all the guys to try and stay out of here. This forum is run by Janice for the ladies, so lets all try to not post here.
Janice....feel free to use your MOD power to delete as you wish, you run the show.:cheers2:
Stay out guys, show some respect!!!!!!!!!!:mod2_tank:

Hi there.
First, I'd like to thank the guys who have expressed their support for this forum. It is truly appreciated. There aren't many of us girls here, and it'll be nice to have a small place where we can communicate.
I've deleted some of the messages left here by some of the guys that I felt were a bit out of place.
Guys, sorry I had to nuke some messages, but it's a womens forum, ya' know?
Hopefully no one whose message(s) got removed will feel offended, but it was done for a good reason. Nothing personal, ok?;)

As has been noted, the v-strom is a relatively tall bike, which makes it less attractive as a bike choice for women who ride. So, fellow stromeras/stromettes/strom sisters, how tall are you and what bike and seat combo are you using?
I am 5'5 and have the stock seat on the wee. I am considering seat mods, but am unsure if I will need to go this route.

I firmly believe you will find most of the male riders very supportive. I am sure a woman's issue with a bike might be explained to some men which they in turn could relay to their SO. This might be of great help to get more women on their own bike or just make them a more comfortable passenger. I am looking forward to lurking here if allowed and might have an honest question or 2 in the future. Ride Safe Ladies.

I am a smidgen under 5'5. My bike is lowered and I have the stock seat with a sheep skin cover.
Motera since we are about the same height how are you with the bufferting? I have tried a number of things and am still having trouble. Im pretty close to giving up.

I'm 5ft 5 and had the seat modified for myself and it has worked a treat
I use to have lowering links with the front forks lowered as well
but found I was banging the bash plate all the time.
I have since got the Rossi boots as well which adds height and with the modified seat it works a treat and I can almost flat feet with both feet.
Also Bec are you using the Madstad brackets??
I would set it in a certain spot, then go for a ride out on the highway, then come back and try again if it wasnt working, until I got it right.
The only time the buffering gets me now is when it is really windy, apart from that its fine.
Yayy to the Ladies forum
heres a pic Kiwi took of me and my constant pillion, my son Joshua, on the April 6 ride

And I'm a male just to make sure we are all on the same page.
Good luck with this section I hope that it thrives although it always intrigues me why there needs to be women only things but if anybody tries a men only equivalent they are accused of everything from simply being sexist through to being the architect of all that is evil in the world.

I have the madstad bracket and the cee bailey windscreen, which seem to have solved the buffeting but the windscreen is too high. I am going to cut it down, but have not got to it yet. Do not give up, there are people who have solved the problem, it just will take some (or maybe a lot!) experimenting.

Interesting thread. I wear a Schuberth C2 helmet and I have mirror extenders that place the mirrors out about 2" . I got them because I wanted to improve visibility to the rear, but perhaps they have helped the buffeting as well.

I have bought different mirrors off ebay am just waiting for them to arrive. Hopefully they will help. I have an OGK helmet. I am looking at getting a new one I would like a Nolan 102. I would have had a Nolan flip originally if they had made an XS. The 102 now comes in an XS so I am going to go and try one on. I am thinking of getting an MRA VarioTouring screen as well as it seems a lot of people have had success with it. Fingers crossed something works soon. I am doing a lot of Km's and am sick of getting headaches.

I take it then, that in this spirit of segregation and exclusion you will refrain from posting in most other forums? This is a giant step backward and I hope a reflection of your opinion only and not the administrators of this forum.
At this moment Advrider has 2,815 people viewing it. They have over 67,000 members, nearly 300,000 threads - and zero exclusionary forums.
Bah, bunch of whiney guys around here. Just think of it as "midwest" or "eastern". When you need specific info you go visit those areas but its probably not the first thing you do every day.
The point is its not a place for idiotic posts like the "is this where I get a date". Lets show a little respect damn it. If we don't it probably will become exclusionary and that would be a shame.
I mean really what is the difference between Strom Sisters and Midwest?

Here here GW! With bandwidth being so limited I'm certain the ladies will be utilising the entire forum rather than wasting their special area on repeated topics already discussed elsewhere... I only hope to be able to still drop in from time to time so I may become more enlightned to the ways of the fairer sex.
The Midwest forum admin doesn't ask people not to post if they're not from the Midwest.
Absolutely.
I'm happy with the concept of a section for female specific issues but I must say I am not comfortable with the original request for women only to post. As I said earlier I would like to see this section prosper but prosper in an inclusive way not an exclusive way.
BTW are we now going to get a kids only section, a pillion only section or a Veterans only section?

Listen to your members and stop blowing them off as making a mountain out of a molehill. If the members of this forum don't like this discrimination factor then you Mods and Admins should do something about it. Not just give us: "your making a mountain out of a molehill" attitude. You may feel this way others don't so please respect that.

Unfortunately, some of the reactions to this forum have been:
Extremely offensive to the women here.
Crude.
Just plain disgusting.
I could go on. The worst of those messages have been deleted. If I see more of those sort, I -will- delete them.
If you have issues that concern women, issues that are on-topic, they would not be touched. There was never an intent to punish or exclude anyone with valid women's issues here. There-was- an intent to keep the male messaging to a bare minimum. No apologies for that, it's a womens forum, get it? It's pretty obvious by the results here that there definitely a need to keep the worst of the offenders out. Theres no excuse for the kinds of derogatory comments or personal attacks that have been posted here, none.
When Brendan and I were discussing whether to set up this forum, we talked about passwording it. I felt that we probably didn't have to, with the mistaken belief that the guys would have enough integrity to leave the women to their one very small part of this message board.
I was obviously wrong.
I am disgusted with some of you. Did you know your mothers are women?
Would you treat them the way you've treated the women in this forum? Would you look a woman in the eye and says the sorts of things you've said here?
Probably not. At least I hope you wouldn't be that crude in a personal situation.
Many of the guys here have privately emailed me congratulations on this forum. I want to say 'THANK YOU, GUYS! You know who you are.
Your support has been sorely needed and gives us the resolve to carry on instead of cave in to the sort of negativity we've been dealing with.

We should treat EVERYONE with respect, men & women. You know, most things in this world were made with men in mind, from our first cars and trucks, thousands of things, even our pay scales. Females should be given some extra respect, they have it coming. Let the women have their forum. To quote Cyndi Lauper " Girls just wanna have fun "

Solve the whole issue by removing this line from the opening post,
This is an area for WOMEN ONLY, and I hope the guys here will respect that. It's a public forum right now, and I sincerely hope that we can keep it that way.
and making a statement that this section is for womens Strom related issues but anybody is free to contribute relevant comments, advice or requests.
The problem that you cannot see is that you have created an exclusion zone. If you fix that problem the whole issue will go away.

Here's the way I look at it. Humanity can be likened to a bird. This bird has two wings. One male, one female. If a bird's wings don't beat equally it can't fly properly. Give the ladies thier due. Us men would be nowhere without them in our lives.
