Seat too low

Please help. As you can see from my other post I'm ready to give up and sell the V Strom. I read all the articles and comparisons with people commenting how tall the bike was. I even sat on it and test rode. Turns out on a regular basis it is just too cramped. I called Russell about a seat mod but the earliest appointment is mid August. Any suggestions until then? I'm looking to raise the seat at least 2-3 inches.

Md....what are you specs HT./WT.? I'm 6'3" 320lbs with a 34" inseam and the Corbin fits me like a glove. You may not need to raise the seat 2-3 inches as much as you need a firmer material that won't compress 2-3 inches.

I'm 6'2" with a 36 inch inseam. I hover around 270 lbs. My wife likes to say I'm all legs. I guess I am compressing the seat a bit. Even with a firmer seat I would still like a bit more room. Has anyone had much luck with the lower foot brackets from EVA out of the Netherlands? I sent an email but have not heard back.

This may have already been discussed but Suzuki makes a tall seat. If you on the Wee it two sizes bigger. IIRC it's 40mm taller than the std 650's seat or 20mm taller than the 1000 seat.

I have the tallest seat.

Look into an Airhawk seat cushion. I believe you fill them with air so you might be able to adjust to the correct height for you. They are not cheap though.

Lower pegs will take a way from the ground clearance. I think I would go with adding more foam. I've never tried the Airhawk as I'm vertically challenged.

I shudder to think what Suzuki wants for the tall touring seat.:(
Are they more or less than the Corbin?

I've also been thinking about the lowering brackets for the pegs, but worry about catching them in turns.

The lower footpegs cut your lean angle, true, but if your riding style doesn't include agressive cornering, they could be the way to go. I've gone from the 650 to the 1K seat, and the seat is taller, but it's nowhere near the amount your looking for (the seat diff. is less than an inch). However, the 1K seat is WAY more comfortable. Have you taken your seat to an upholsterer and seen how much to get it beefed up to where you want? You could have them turn it into more of a MX style seat (straight across from the rack). I've seen someone do it on one of the boards (maybe ADV), it looked good, but I'd never be able to stand the bike up if it were that high :) Should be able to have them do it for cheaper than a whole new saddle. Somewhere I saw a post about using one of those temperpedic (sp?) matresses as donor material for comfort. Just my .02.

I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and ride with the Corbin Canyon seat. My posture is close to straight back chair/sitting at attention. The Corbin is much firmer than the stock seat and wider, and offers IMHO a more comfortable riding position. I do not know where you will find a taller more comfortable bike to ride than the Strom, most that I sat on were much more cramped than the Strom. Good luck in your search,
