Sargent seat & Blue Seas fuse box

I broke down and bought a Sargent seat for my DL1000...finally.

I brought it home tonight to try it on and felt resistance when I tried to latch it down on the bike. It looks like the storage tube, that comes with the seat, is hitting my Blue Seas fuse box. Anyone else have this happen?

It shouldn't. My Blue Seas sits on 3/4" risers and it clears. Check the front tabs. If you don't get them under the lower ramp and push down on the seat, the tabs will bend up a little. If yours angle up, that's your problem, they need to be straight. I have a 650 though. If you think it's the storage tube, take it out temporarily. I doubt that's the problem though.

Nope, fit's perfect. How far back is your BS box? Mine is as far forward as it will fit.

I'm interested to see what happens w/ your blue seas/ sargeant seat combo. I ordered a blue seas today, and a sargeant seat is my next likely farkle.

I haven't taken a close look at it yet so I'm not positive on the interference. It did feel like there was resistance when I first tried to latch it down. I removed the seat, took off the storage tube and it latched much easier. My Blue Seas is pretty close to the front of the storgae tray. It may have just been the wiring to my SpeedoHealer, which runs over the fuse box, that I was feeling the resistance from. I'll get further into it this weekend and report back....

Looking at the picture of my setup (after posting it) got me to wondering if, maybe, its the relay, screwed to the side of the tray, that is hitting.

Those of you with the Blueseas box that have a PCIII where did you mount the PCIII? I am ordering one of these, but my PCIII is right where the Blueseas would go.

I also have the sargent so I am interested to know if the relay is the issue

Oh ya, I was supposed to look at that again. Well, its been blowing like mad and snowing off and on today so my motorcycle motivation is pretty low.

Well, I looked at it again last night. I'm pretty darn sure that the storage tube hits the fuse box. It looked like it from the side, although it is hard to see as you put the seat on, and I was feeling definite resistance as I tried to push it down to latch it. Take off the storage tube and the resistance is gone.

Could you guys recheck and make sure?

I have that same Blue Sea fuse box in that place and a Seargent seat on my 650. No problems at all. The Suzuki Gel seat I also have is cranky about snapping into place but not the Seargent. Storage tube is in place, on the underside of the seat.

I have no PCIII though. I wonder if that is in the way.

Okay guys. This isn't related to the storage tube. Its about the Sargent itself.

Today, I went for my first good ride of the season. There was a group of 26 other Stroms with me, which was pretty fun in itself. I had a number of guys sit on my bike to check out the Sargent, and all liked it. I think the biggest compliment I can give the seat is that I did not think about my butt all day long. We started out at 9:00 this morning and, when I was on my way home, around 6:00 tonight, I realized I was completely comfortable still. No achy butt, no monkey butt, nothing. I'm starting to think it was a damn good $321 investment.

I did my first real test today. A little over 600 miles was no problem. I did have a problem getting the seat to latch a few months back but straightening the front metal tabs that were bent upward slightly fixed that.
