I'm heading to the Kerrville, TX. area on 4-6-08 or so. I'm going to try to make STAR but I may not get out there in time. A long story short, I'm retired and am looking to re-locate. My mom lives in San Antonio and I have friends in Natalia.

I'm looking for ride/house rental info for that general area. A bonus would be if fellow riders were interested in showing me some of the good roads in the area.

I'm looking to settle outside of San Antonio to the west but still be close enough to help mom when her health starts to fail.

Thanks
Allan

I have only some knowledge of good roads in the area, but a friend of mine has been riding the Hill Country for 10 years or so and knows it like the back of his hand. I'm sure we'd both be up for some riding when you get here.

Register and join Two Wheeled Texans (http://www.twtex.com/). There are plenty of Strommers there and you have the benefit of other riders that live in and know that area. Introduce yourself and let folks know what you are looking for - you should get plenty of ideas.

Check out the thread on the V-Strom-only BBQ ride (http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25676). ;)
There will be another one next year plus many other rides as well.

I have a daughter that lives in SA and I just spent the past two days and 700 miles riding them their hills. Also retired so I can ride most anytime I want. I have a fair knowledge of the area. Suggest Destination Cycle- Loop 534 Kerrville, Texas 888-886-3001 (rents metric) good folks. Here is a link (http://www.hillcountrycruising.com/) to a good web site about riding the hill country. 470 has sections of road construction that are gravel/dirt. The last 6 miles of 337 from Vanderpool into Leakey are also dirt under construction. All passable when dry but can be dangerous when wet (muddy). I'll ride with you for a day. Just let us known what you have in mind.

Just got back from Hill Country about 3 weeks ago. 3300 miles 10 days from Florida, 5 total riders and it was excellant. Not as good as the Smokies or possibly out west (I have never been out west on a bike) but a great trip, great people and excellant senery. My second best trip ever. Just slow down and enjoy, check link below for some pictures.
