Be very very careful if you ever deal with these "folks":
http://www.clearercom.com

Back on May 11th I ordered a pair of helmet headphones (for my Zen Micro) from them (Clearcom).

A week goes by and no headphones but I do get this email:

Dear Customer,

Sorry for the late reply, your order has been processed and
Was shipped out last week. You should receive your order
Any day now.

Thanks,
Tom

Another week goes by and no headphones so I send an email inquiry. . . and I get this back two days later:

Hi, your order was sent out May 12th via UPS, there has been a slight
delay with UPS that day, if they don't arrive by tomorrow we will resend
your order.

Regards,

Rhea

Yesterday via email I inquired as to the UPS shipping info so I could attempt to trace the shipment and got this (from Tom) as a reply:

Hi Bob, which day did you order? Do you have an order number?

I decided at this point to call the "toll-free" number on their website and try and find out what the Flock is going on.

The lady that answered the phone was "Rhea" herself. She "explained" that they had had some problems with UPS and that there was no UPS tracking number and that she hadn't shipped out a replacement as promised in her email and finally in a snotty tone told me "I just don't want to deal with this problem" .

Click Dial tone. Thankyouverymuch.

I've contacted paypal to reverse the payment and chalk this one up to learning about "bad people" screwing other people er aah "doing business" on the web.

Anybody got any ideas about a set of helmet headphones similar in style to these:

This afternoon I received notification from PAYPAL that h_nguyen_74@hotmail.com (The "man" behind Clearcom) had refunded the amount spent by me. It also included this pissy comment from him as the "seller".

"item shipped usps, not ups. hence no tracking, but it doesn't matter as your rudeness to my staff is uncalled for. you can have the item, i'll refund the amount."

I took a moment to email Mr. "h_nguyen_74@hotmail.com" (hearafter referred to by me as asshat) this reply.

A. I never received the item because (according to your "staff") it was never shipped.

B. Either you didn't read the complaint very well or you didn't understand the situation..............

It was "your staff" that hung up on me after telling me "I don't have to deal with this" when asked SIMPLE QUESTIONS in plain english regarding; the series of emails I received, the contradiction in her "stories" and the product that I had paid for and not received.

READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY.

1. I didn't shout, I didn't curse nor did I use harsh language.

2. I simply ask normal questions in an attempt to find out why I was getting the "run-a-round" over a set of headphones I had ordrered from your "company" and NOT RECEIVED.

3. It was "your staff" (Rhea to be precise) that replied to my questions with "snotty" answers.

4. It was "your staff" (Rhea to be precise) that informed me that the item ordered had never been shipped.

5. It was "your staff" (Rhea to be precise) that did not or would not answer simple questions regarding the order.

6. It was "your staff" (Rhea to be precise) that hung up the telephone ending the conversation.

I consider your offer to me to "keep the item" is rather shallow considering I never received the "item".

End of letter

Needless to say I'll be looking elsewhere for my needs.

Thanks guys...

Long since resolved (not by clearcum) via gutting a nice set of Sony headphones and inserting the appropriate componentry inside my helmet.

I use Sennheiser CX300 ear buds while riding and the sound quality is excellent. http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=500830
My only complaint is after 8 hours of riding while touring, my ear canals get a bit tender. I do not think this is due to the Sennheisers, just that my ear canals rebel after having something in them for so long. The are noise blocking and have great bass response.

The cords are different lengths to one ear so it helps to route the longer cord behind the neck to the ear opposite the side the cord is being plugged into your iPod.

Hope this helps.
