Hello all. I currently own an '03 VFR and an '02 SV650. After doing some more two up riding with the fiance, I am mulling over the idea of replacing the VFR (Which I love very much) with something a little more upright. My first thoughts were FJR, but I am now thinking that a V-stom 1000 might fit the bill. I will surely miss the sportiness of the VFR, but the SV will make it easier to handle.
So if anybody has any first hand experience with these bikes, I appereciate your input. Heck if you have any comments on two up riding on the Big Strom or even spirited riding, that would also be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

2005 DL1000 with a trunk makes for a great ride for the pillion. She doesn't even mind the occasional wheelie, since falling off the back is pretty much out of the question. Can't compare it to the bikes you mentioned, but ones with similar ergonomics... cbr1000, seca 750 and zx-11. The wife loves the DL's seating position, trunk/backrest, and seat way more than the other bikes...

I just went from a 99 VFR800 with a 2 piece Sargent seat (no backrest) to a 2004 DL1000 w/ Corbin seat & rear top-case and the wife much prefers the Strom. She can sit up and back instead of into me like she did on the VFR. Also makes it way more comfy for me. I always had added pressure on my wrists 2 up on the VFR. Never bothered me solo, but detracted from extended stays in the saddle 2-up.
I also considered the FJR1300, but wanted a big change after 60,000 miles on a couple of VFR's and thought the FJR was a little too similar maybe...
Went from a 01 vfr to a 03 V-Strom. V-Strom much more comfortable 2 up. More room for driver and passenger and passengers weight is much lower on bike making slow speed manuvering a lot easier. Also torquerer V Strom engine is better for 2 up riding.

But I just rode home my new to me 03 VStrom from CT to VA, about 700 miles last weekend. In the first 30 minutes on the VSTrom my wife was yelling 'This is the most comfortable bike we've ever had).
Bikes include BMW's (Airheads, K's, and oildheads), some with aftermarket seats such as Corbin and Sargent.
We had a great ride home and now she's planning on some trips for fall.
One thing to remember, when you go the adventure bike route you get more suspension travel - hence a more comfortable ride. Especially with the poor conditions of so many roads.
