Hi everybody!

I've been thinking about a wee-strom for a few weeks now. I've had a naked SV since 2001, and while I love it, I'm thinking that a wee-strom might be better for my needs.

I commute daily on my motorcycle, with a mix of potholed city streets and highway. My wife is often a passenger for longer trips, so rear seat comfort is important. I do tour, but off-road doesn't do much for me.

I'm looking for people's opinions if the wee-strom (I love that 650 motor) will handle my needs better than my naked SV.

It seems that the v-strom has better options for luggage, and the taller suspension / larger wheels might handle uneven pavement better. The big rear seat might make my wife happier as well.

Thanks for your opinions!

The weestrom sounds like exactly what youn are looking for. You are familiar with the motor. The ergos and suspension will be better than what you are used to with the SV for comfort and commuting.

I switched my seat for a Suzuki Gel seat and it is much better than stock seat.

I think you will be happy with the bike. I know I am.

does the forward seat angle tend to squish the old jewels after a while?

In stock form it does want to slide you forward. What I did was to remove the 2 1/4" rubber grommets from the seat posts that go into the seat latch. It made the seat more level and comfortable. The DL650 seat is harder than the DL1000 seat. I'm only about 155lbs and haven't really found either seat to be that uncomfortable that I felt a need to replace them. Others find them uncortable.

i don't think it was too bad

My boys stay pretty happy on the stock seat. The stock seat on my ZR-7 would leave them numb and my ass in a world of hurt after 80 miles. I just rode the DL for 350 miles with only one stop for gas & lunch about halfway.

Nothing I did to my 03 DL1000 seat helped much and that included 4 revisions with an upholstery shop. My S/O thought the passengers seat was just fine and we own a full dress Harley and had ridden a K1200LT a few times. She was very comfy on the Stock DL1000 seat with the Factory luggage box as a backrest.

I Absolutely LOVE my Russell Day Long Seat.. WELL worth the $$.
I went from riding 20 minutes to pain threshold to more than
8 hours now in comfort!! I forgot about my butt and concentrate on the ride!!!

Can only speak from short experience (the DL650 is new) but my wife came aboard for the first time yesterday and thought the comfort factor was great. The 52 litre box provided her with a back support and I have to say she felt more relaxed, hence we both had a better ride.
